180+ Cats Reportedly Hoarded and Denied Medical Care Deserve Justice

Target: Hon. Brian E. Lewis, Sheriff, Kent County, DE

Goal: Protect the lives of cats, dogs, and other household pets by mandating counseling for woman who hoarded over 180 animals.

Over 184 cats and one dog were seized from “deplorable” conditions in a Delaware home after they were allegedly hoarded and denied basic medical attention. The woman accused of this cruelty must not only face charges, but should be given mandated counseling to ensure that no future animals are subjected to such harm.

Linda Favre, the homeowner, was arrested and charged on 19 counts, including animal cruelty, after the animals were discovered. Three cats were dead or have since died, reportedly due to their mistreatment. Authorities say the animals were suffering from malnourishment, fleas, and infection.

Favre must be held accountable for her alleged crimes, but she also must face mental health counseling and support to address her hoarding issues. Punishing her for her crimes may not stop them from occurring again, but addressing the motives behind her crimes may spare other animals from similar fates. Sign the petition to demand that the animals get the justice they deserve and Favre gets the counseling she needs.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Sheriff Lewis,

Over 180 animals were seized from a home in your county, from what authorities have described as “deplorable” conditions. This is the largest case of animal hoarding in your state. Linda Favre, the woman accused of this cruelty, must be held accountable.

One way to ensure this tragic event does not happen again is by mandating Favre to counseling. She needs help to stop her proclivity for hoarding. I ask that you not only hold Favre responsible but also ensure she gets the help she needs. That is the only way to find justice for these mistreated animals.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. I am asking the LAW to do its job and charge these hoarders to the maximum. Some little animals are dead and they ALL suffered needlessly because of some woman that was totally irresponsible and cruel. So HOLD HER ACCOUNTABLE AND HELP HER so that this does not happen again. AND WHY ONLY 19 COUNTS???

THIS KEEPS HAPPENING …SO DO SOMETHING TO STOP IT. PEOPLE SHOULD BE VETTED MORE EFFICIENTLY, NEIGHBOURS SHOULD KEEP EYES OPEN, ABUSERS NAMES SHOULD GO ON NATIONAL REGISTRY LISTS AND ANIMALS WELFARE AGENCIES, SPCA’S AND SPECIALIZED LAW ENFORCEMENT MUST TRY TO KEEP ON TOP OF THIS CRUELTY FOR THEIR RESPECTIVE REGIONS.

Please give all these innocent animals JUStiCE.

  2. Can’t believe it really… So so deplorable!!!!

  3. ANIMALS SHALL NOT BE VICTIMS OF HUMAN PSYCHOS!
MAX JAIL for this mentally-deranged lowlife! She must NOT be allowed to OWN animals ever again! Acts of neglect like this have NO PLACE in our communities and CANNOT BE IGNORED. ANIMAL ABUSE needs to be taken as seriously AS any HUMAN VIOLENCE. Animals SHALL NOT BE VICTIMS — and they deserve JUSTICE just like YOU and ME.

I have to agree with this petition that Linda Favre should be required by the Court mandated help for her hoarding habits. This is in fact a mental illness that requires health care and an in home mentor if need be to overcome this illness. Animals housed by people who hoard face being neglected, malnourished, lack of medical care, and cruel housing by having to spend their lives in small cage enclosures.

  5. I’m certainly not defending Linda Favre but she needs intense counseling and not punishment. I knew a man who hoarded dogs and cats because he felt he was the only one who would love them. His good intentions turned into a disaster as you can well imagine. I urge counseling for Ms. Favre and not punishment.

  6. This petition looks like it is asking for this person to only receive psychiatric help for her problem, as being held accountable. But, it does not tell why. I believe she should be sent to prison. She can see a therapist there while she serves her sentence, for hoarding issues. People who do this to animals should go to jail. I am not signing this because it does not look to me, to be asking for prison time. Courts could decide that justice, in order to be held accountable, is requiring therapy, if they go by this petition. There just aren’t enough details as to why this is being asked in this petition. I believe people should generally serve prison time for animal abuse and murder.

  7. I’m not asking for justice . I think and I do believe humans of this kind must die in order for the rest of the evolved humans myst live and care for the animals it this world. It other words: it’s a human, vake it or cook it

  8. What in the hell is the matter with people – who would do this to these animals. This bitch needs to be in jail and throw away the keys – honestly until some strong actions are taken against this animal abuse – it will never ever stop and those who suffer have no voice to explain what pain they are living thru. We are supposed to be the people to keep them safe – so then let’s see if it is not somehow possible to get some JUDGE to agree with us instead of always feeling sorry for the person. Jesus H Christ this world is beyond saving. This woman does not deserve to live sorry that is just how I seriously feel about all of this.

  9. I totally agree with everyone that enough is enough. It is so unfair for animals to suffer because of careless people. The authorities need to start cracking down on animal abuse and neglect. These poor cats and all other animals need justice.

  10. Laura Adams says:

Counselling is ok as far as it goes–problem is, it doesn’t go far enough. Make sure she does not have any more animals in her possession, ever.

  11. THESE POOR ANIMALS – THIS IS INEXCUSABLE AND UNACCEPTABLE. THESE CATS LANGUISHED IN THESE HORRIBLE FILTHY CAGES FOR FAR TOO LONG. CATS DON’T EVEN BELONG IN CAGES! THEY MUST HAVE BEEN SO DEPRESSED LIVING IN CONFINEMENT LIKE THAT. THIS IS TERRIBLE. THAT WOMAN DOES NEED PSYCHOLOGICAL HELP, AND ALSO TO MAKE SURE SHE NEVER OWNS ANY ANIMALS AGAIN

  12. She may have started out with good intentions and things snowballed from there. I get it, I’ve got 8 indoor rescues and a feral colony. People think it’s ok to dump their unwanted cats at my place, knowing I have a soft spot for them.
It’s not OK! Because I have sense enough to say enough.
This may be what happened to this lady, I dunno?
I believe counseling is in order to get to the root of the problem. She needs help, not jail time or harsh criticism.
Trust me I know what it’s like to try to find help these days for strays, damn near impossible! Unless of course to go to a kill shelter.
Hopefully she gets the help she needs and the cats get the care they need and are adopted out to loving homes.

  13. This woman needs jail time for the horrific acts of neglect and torture of these defenseless animals. The suffering they endured is unimaginable! She may be psychologically unstable and benefit from treatment but nevertheless should be BANNED FOR LIFE from ever keeping an animal again – or go back to jail! Law makers need to better protect animals and put REAL deterrents and punishments in place. These are heinous crimes and should NEVER be tolerated in a decent society.

    • SO RIGHT!!!! TOO OFTEN “TREATMENT’ MEANS THE AUTHORITIES ARE TOO LAZY OR TOO UNCONCERNED TO BOTHER WITH A PROPER PROSECUTION. WHY THE HELL DID WE ALL FIGHT SO HARD TO PASS THE P.A.C.T ACT MAKING ANIMAL ABUSE A FEDERAL CRIME????? AND SHE SHOULD IMMEDIATELY PUT INTO THE NATIONAL DATABASE OF ANIMAL ABUSERS!!!! NEXT WE NEED TO PASS A LAW REQUIRING A DATABASE CHECK BEFORE GIVING OR SELLING ANY ANIMAL!!!

  14. Heartbreaking!!!

  15. Hoading isNO INNOCENT CRIME. I SAY, MANDATE THE DEATH PENALTY. you can’t say you LOVE ANIMALS and imprison them in a cage with no food or water. This is CLEARLY A CRUELTY CASE!!! IMPLEMENT AND MANDATE THE DEATH PENALTY!!!

  16. Pamela Hengst says:

Hoarders start out with good intentions, then become overwhelmed. The lady needs jail time, a fine, mental health counseling, and the inability to ever own animals again. If she wants to help she can send a check each month to reputable rescue organization. RIP little cats who didn’t make it. I hope all other animals in that filthy mess are ok now.

  17. Anita Gowda says:

This heartless woman should be behind Bars without any bail and must suffer till death and to set this as an example to all the heartless people around to Learn this and stop animal cruelty and By Not Just by given Counseling. What have these voiceless and defenseless animals done to humans To suffer

  18. Nadine brundage says:

Well, this did not happen overnight. No relatives, no neighbors, no mail delivery, no one ever noticed anything strange going’s on in that house of horrors? I’ll blame others as well as this nut case. This hoarder needs the nearest mental institution, it’s quite obvious, not normal. Unbelievable the pain and suffering these animals went through and if not put away , this sicko will start collecting more animals.

  19. Bette Lazzaro says:

“Crazy Women” MUST be held to account for hoarding and neglect. I’ve seen too many of them that even call themselves “rescuers”. PROSECUTE.

  20. Jaime Perez says:

This situation is so sad. Poor helpless cats who were forced to suffer in silence. I’m glad they were discovered and rescued. This woman needs some serious mental help.
