Dog Reportedly Shot for Walking Onto Neighbor’s Property Deserves Justice

Target: Mike Kagay, District Attorney of Shawnee County, Kansas

Goal: Give man who allegedly shot dog for walking on his property harshest legal sentence allowed by law.

A dog was allegedly shot several times for wandering onto a neighbor’s property. The neighbor, John Cyrus, was charged with animal cruelty for the crime. If it is found he committed this senseless act, Cyrus must receive the longest prison sentence possible to better ensure other animals will not be harmed.

Reports state that the dog was trying to hide underneath a shed when Cyrus fired a few rounds toward the animal with his shotgun. Although the dog survived this traumatic ordeal, he may experience anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. Sign this petition to demand that Cyrus spend the most amount of time behind bars that is allowed for this crime if he is found guilty of harming this innocent animal.

Dear District Attorney Kagay,

John Cyrus was arrested for allegedly shooting a dog that walked onto his property. He should receive the strictest legal sentence possible if he is found guilty so that other animals will not have to endure the same fate.

Reports state the dog did not try to attack Cyrus, and was hiding under a shed when shot by the suspect. The animal was allegedly hit by several pellets. Research indicates that dogs and other animals who live through such a stressful situation will experience long-term side effects and anxiety that will impact their life expectancy.  For these reasons, we demand you suggest that Cyrus get the strongest sentence the law will allow if he is found guilty of hurting this innocent animal.
