Applaud Jail Time for Man Convicted of Beating Puppies to Death with Brick

Target: Magistrate Robert Stone, Newcastle Local Court

Goal: Praise tough sentence against man who bludgeoned puppies to death in a drug-fueled rage.

A man responsible for beating and killing nine puppies with a brick has been sentenced to 18 months in prison. Nathan Thompson, who was entrusted by the owner to sell the puppies, drove the animals to the bush while high on methamphetamine and savagely beat them to death. Thompson claimed that he had considered taking the dogs to an animal shelter, but did not have money to pay for fuel for the trip.

The man pleaded guilty to nine counts of animal cruelty, one for each of the animals killed. He also pleaded guilty to one charge of prolonging the suffering of an animal for one of the two dogs that survived the attack. He was sentenced to 18 months in jail with a minimum of 12 months before the possibility of parole, and will be banned from owning animals in the future.

The attack shocked the Australian public and prompted protests outside the court. According to David O’Shannessy, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals New South Wales Chief Inspector, the case was particularly horrific even for veteran investigators. The court determined that Thompson’s attack showed premeditation and an “appalling lack of empathy.”

This sentence will bring justice to the puppies that were beaten and act as a deterrent to others that may commit crimes against animals in the future. The ban on animal ownership will ensure that Thompson does not commit similar crimes again. Sign the petition below to thank the judge for taking a tough stance on animal cruelty.

Dear Magistrate Robert Stone,

Nathan Thompson, who pleaded guilty to bludgeoning nine puppies with a brick, was recently sentenced to 18 months in prison. He was trusted by the puppies’ owner to sell them, but instead took them into the bush and beat them, leaving two of the dogs barely alive and suffering until a witness called the police. Thompson knew about humane options such as surrendering the dogs to the SPCA, but chose to kill them himself anyway.

By handing down a tough sentence to this offender, the court not only brought justice to the murdered puppies, but set an example which deters future crimes against animals. The ban on future animal ownership will ensure that no animal has to endure a similar attack at Thompson’s hands. We, the undersigned, thank you for punishing the perpetrator of this brutal and appalling beating.

This guy should be beaten with a brick until near death and left to suffer until dead! He must be removed from society permanently and the sooner the better. He should not be allowed to walk this earth! His next victims will be children if allowed to live
Being high is no excuse for killing!

  2. Sandra Zaninovich says:

I just keep signing these petitions and making my donations, my eyes filled with tears the entire time, praying, praying, that somehow, some miracle happens and these poor animals are rescued from the horror that is man. I can’t see any way to get there except for some major apocalypse that will wipe us all out but somehow spare the innocent, defenseless, voiceless creatures we so torture, abuse, slaughter, etc. So disgusted to be part of this vile race.

    • So true, Sandra!! I feel the same despair day in and day out…with every signature. It blows my mind what goes in this world and that I actually live in it with these truly evil monsters.

      • Florence says:

I feel the same as you both, Sandra and Joy! It’s nice to know there are others like me, when you live in a selfish, calous and cruel world. I try to put my beliefs into practice by not eating any animal or dairy product and being careful about not harming the environment. I wish people were more aware of the horrible curse the human race is on animals and the environment. Let’s keep signing, at least it is something that can make a difference!

  3. Guillaume LAURENCIN says:

Not enough. Kill him. No mercy

  5. Marion West says:

What an evil thing to do to those poor defenceless puppies. He didn’t have money for fuel to take them to the animal shelter but has it for his drugs. Evil monster. I can’t believe that people can to this to animals. They should have the same done to them if not worse.

  6. I feel he should of gotten more time in jail. These poor pups never had the chance to be normal and be loved. Give him more time and he should of gotten a huge fine.

  7. Meg Dolan says:

Sandra I feel the same as you do …all we can do is donate when we can and keep on signing…thankfully there are many good people out there who realize animals are here for a reason and they work so hard to ttry to protect them.
I feel happy that this horrible man at least got time, more than just 30 days with a slap on the wrist ! It’s progress ! so you are helping with every signature you write.

  8. Ellis Toscano says:

There cannot be a harsh enough sentence.
