End Exploitation of Wild and Exotic Animals

circus USE

Target: Mayor of San Francisco, Edwin Lee

Goal: Ban the use of exotic or wild animals for entertainment in San Francisco.

San Francisco is just one vote away from becoming the next city to ban the use of wild or exotic animals for entertainment purposes. The city’s council passed a bill that would require circuses, movies, and television, among other entertainment mediums, to stop forcing wild animals to perform. The bill is now sitting in front of San Francisco’s mayor, Edwin Lee, awaiting his approval. Encourage Lee to pass this progressive bill into law.

If this important bill is passed into law, San Francisco will join many other compassionate cities and countries in the belief that wild animals should not be used for entertainment. Other communities that have passed similar bans can be found in Massachusetts, Colorado, and other counties in California. Forcing intelligent, socially complex wild animals to perform tricks for humans is abusive and far from the respect that these animals deserve.

Urge the mayor of San Francisco to pass this ban into law by signing this petition. Wild animals deserve freedom and respect; promote the change that they are entitled to.

Dear Mayor Lee,

San Francisco’s city council recently passed a bill that would ban the use of exotic or wild animals for entertainment. The only thing standing in the way of passing this bill into law is your approval. Please do the right thing and ban the use of wild animals for entertainment in San Francisco.

Your city is as progressive as cities come. Citizens of San Francisco are overall environmentally conscious and attentive to the needs of wildlife. Other counties in California, as well as around the country, have passed similar bans in favor of giving wild animals the peace and respect that they deserve. There is nothing holding San Francisco back from joining these other equally progressive cities and counties.

The city council understands the importance of progressing animal rights’ movements. I have faith in your compassion and motivation to keep San Francisco at the forefront of progression. Please pass this bill into law for current and future generations of wild animals. We, the undersigned, will be eternally grateful for your compassionate approval of this measure.

Thank you for holding yourself and your city to increasingly progressive standards. Thank you for your leadership in this time.
