Grieving Family’s Dog Reportedly Abducted and Burned to Death Deserves Justice

Target: Steve Gold, County Attorney for Henderson County, Kentucky

Goal: Punish the man who allegedly burned a grieving family’s dog to death.

A beloved family dog was reportedly burned to death in a shocking case of animal cruelty. He was seemingly abducted and later found dead in a public bathroom at the Henderson County Fairground. Demand justice for this innocent animal.

Gina Howard and her family were in the process of mourning a family member when their beloved miniature poodle, Duke, was reportedly abducted and burned to death. Devastated and fearing for the safety of other local animals, they pleaded with the public for help in identifying the person responsible for their loss. Those outcries were heard when 32 -year-old Bryan K. Matthews Jr. was arrested on charges of torturing a dog with serious injury or death and 3rd Degree arson.

Duke’s family has requested that full justice be served in his case. Sign below and demand that the person found responsible for this dog’s untimely and torturous death is punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Dear County Attorney Gold,

A Henderson County family is now mourning the murder of not one, but two family members. First, Mariah Strother was gunned down at a gas station. Then, her father and his family suffered another loss when their beloved miniature poodle, Duke, was apparently abducted and burned to death at the Henderson County Fairgrounds.

The arrest of Bryan K. Matthews Jr. on charges of torturing a dog with serious injury or death and 3rd Degree arson has brought some comfort for this family. However, more must be done to ensure that no other animal suffers.

I demand that you prosecute this case and seek a swift and harsh penalty for the person found responsible for Duke’s suffering and death.

Nothing short of a psychopath’s actions. The individual must be charged and sentenced to the fullest extent of the law. Appalling, heinous, sickening to the extreme.

  2. Linda Hilty-Tuttle says:

Absolutely heart-wrenching! Prayers for Duke and severe punishment for Bryan K. Matthews Jr.! Don’t know how Matthews could do such a heinous thing to ANY animal!!!

  3. Anyone who could do this to a small defenseless dog can do this to a small defenseless child and unless stopped now he probably will do this to a child, he’s a callous little coward and should be jailed. Lifetime ban from going near any animal, a decade in therapy and a huge fine he can work off doing hours of community service shoveling out horse stalls at the fair. Loser.

  4. They fullest extent of the law is woefully insufficient. When that scumbag gets out they need to beat him, gag him and light him on fire till dead. that is fair. yes

  5. Even the harshest “law” penalty would not be justice. The perpetrator has probably killed numerous animals or will continue killing them and it’s not a stretch to think he’ll move on to humans. He needs to be in prison for life or dead

  6. Jane Todaro says:

Whoever did this should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and never allowed near an animal ever again!!!!!!! What in the name of Sam Hill is the matter with some people????!!!!

  7. Instigation of the mandatory death penalty must be implemented internationally.

  8. WTH? What kind of scab picking scum does that

  9. Rafael Garay says:

Starting a petition is a great way to find justice in a case such as this but, if it had happened to my dog i would be laying down the law myself on whoever did it. It’s just not my dog, he’s my buddy.

  10. +RIP Duke
Death penalty for bastard killer, coward,MF!

This is so cruel, what a evil vile thing to do to a sweet dog,A dog who probably would not hurt anyone like a child and wanted to go back home..Poor Duke who suffered badly and I hope that he gets justice. This vile human has probably hurt other poor animals.
