Protect New Black Iguana Species from Extinction

Target: Jeannette Beck, Head of Department of Water Agriculture, and Food, Netherlands (in charge of Saba in the Caribbean)

Goals: Protect newly discovered black iguana species from falling victim to extinction.

A new black iguana species just discovered in the Caribbean is already severely threatened and facing extinction. Sign the petition to demand that the species get the protection it deserves before it disappears forever.

Harvesting and the pet trade are the biggest drivers behind the extinction of all iguana species across the globe. Invasive species and competition have also depleted the species’ population. Scientists worry that if protection is not enforced immediately, the new black iguana will experience a fate similar to that of its fellow breeds.

The prevention of hunting and the protection of its habitat will help protect the species. Sign the petition to demand that action be taken now to help protect the species from extinction.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Department Head Beck,

The black iguana is one of the newest iguana species discovered in the Caribbean. However, it is already gravely threatened with extinction. If action is not taken immediately. the species will face hunting, habitat loss, harvesting, and competition from invasive species.

I demand that the new black iguana species be granted protections to save it from extinction. It would be a tragedy to lose a species our planet only just got the opportunity to enjoy.

Sincerely,
