Demand Justice for Rare White Giraffes Brutally Slaughtered

Target: Brigadier (Retired) John Migui Waweru, Kenya Wildlife Service Director General

Goal: Punish poachers of rare white giraffes to the full extent of the law.

Two rare white giraffes were slaughtered in Garissa County, Kenya. Their skeletons were discovered recently after the animals were marked as missing for several months. The carcasses found belong to a female white giraffe and her 7-month-old calf. These were two of only three white giraffes living in the Ishaqbini Hirola Community Conservancy. It is believed that the giraffes were killed and butchered by poachers.

Mohammad Ahmednoor, manager of the conservancy, said in a statement: “This is a very sad day for the community… and Kenya as a whole. We are the only community in the world who are custodians of the white giraffe.” The conservancy now only has one remaining white giraffe—an adult male. This giraffe is thought to be the last white giraffe in the world. White giraffes are not albino, but instead have a partial loss of skin pigmentations. In soft tissues, like the eyes and tail hair, the white giraffes still produce dark pigment. All giraffes, both white and pigmented, are considered endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. The main threat to the species is human activity and poaching.

The poachers responsible for the slaughtering of these two rare white giraffes have still not been identified. Sign this petition to urge the Kenya Wildlife Service to punish the poachers to the full extent of the law when they are apprehended.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Brigadier (Retired) John Migui Waweru,

The carcasses of two white giraffes from the Ishaqbini Hirola Community Conservancy represent the deaths of two of what might be the last three white giraffes on planet earth. These untimely deaths were unnecessary, uncalled for, and cruel. The idea that anyone would hunt an endangered animal for sport is unthinkable.

I urge you to run a complete investigation of the killings and to find the individuals responsible for the brutal poaching of this mother giraffe and her calf. When the poachers are apprehended, I urge you to seek to punish them to the full extent of the law.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

These beautiful animals should have had 24/7 protection! Poaching must become a death penalty offense! Too many rare and wonderful animals are being annihilated!

  3. OMG, the greedy and evil poachers who did this destroyed the world the gift of these two majestic animals. SO SAID, WE MUST FINE THOSE RESPONSIBLE AND THEY MUST BE SEVERELY PUNISHED. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY THIS WILL EVER STOP.
THE WORLD IS WATCHING and we demand justice for these majestic giraffe’s and that means real punishment:

1)JAILED FOR 25 YEARS IN A HELL HOLE JAIL
    2) FINED 25K,
3)NEVER TO HAVE PERMITS TO HUNT 4)TAKE THEIR VISAS AND PASSPORTS NEVER TO BE RETURNED
THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO STOP POACHING AND IT MUST BE ENACTED AND ENFORCED NOW!

Barbaric third world country. Prosecute these scumbags to the full extent of the law

  5. If the laws don’t become more stringent, these innocent animals that belong to the world will disappear. Poachers should be shot on sight and their carcasses left to rot like the POSs they are, no questions asked. The only thing their life is worth is the price of the bullet that takes them out. So disturbing and sickening.
