Stop Offering Bounties to Kill Stray Dogs

Target: Dongguan City, China Mayor Liang Weidong

Goal: Explain that people cannot get COVID-19 (conoravirus) from dogs and tell people not to kill stray animals.

Government officials in the Wanjuan community in Dongguan, China posted a notice offering citizens 200 yuan to kill stray dogs as well as any pet dogs not on leashes in order to combat the COVID-19 virus. However, there is no evidence that shows dogs can pass this disease on to humans. It is important that these actions are not carried out so that innocent animals will not be killed.

The offer was extended to citizens, because people were complaining that pet owners were not following rules pertaining to owning dogs. Fear originally arose when a Chinese health official said that animals needed to be quarantined while officials were trying to get a better hold of the disease. Coughing, sneezing, saliva or discharge from the nose are thought to be the main culprits that spread the virus. Furthermore, the WHO (World Health Organization) has officially stated that no evidence has been found to show that the virus can be spread from animals to humans.

Acting on fears will only cause more harm to people and animals. Demand Dongguan government officials issue another notice that says citizens should not kill dogs and that they also clearly explain to citizens that there is currently no existing evidence that says animals can spread the disease to people.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mayor Weidong,

A notice was recently posted that said people in your community would be paid to kill stray dogs and pets that were not on leashes to try and keep people from getting COVID-19. However, the WHO has officially stated that scientists have not found evidence indicating that people can catch this virus from pets. It is important that people understand the truth to avoid innocent animals from dying needless and painful deaths.

As you know, people became fearful when a Chinese health official stated that animals should be quarantined while the government tries to figure out how to combat the disease. Contrarily, health experts claim that the virus is only spread through people sneezing, coughing, spreading saliva or through nose discharge.

For these reasons, we demand that you issue another notice to citizens clearly stating that there has been no evidence to show that humans can catch this virus from their pets and to also clearly say in the notice that dogs should not be killed. Fear based actions will only cause more problems and needless panic.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. I have worked as a Forensic Mental Health Professional and trauma therapist for over 25 years. During this time, I have contracted with jails, prisons, and community corrections in various states, after working as a correctional officer for a few years. I can attest that there is a very strong correlation between the way people treat animals of any kind and the way they can all-too-easily, and without hesitation, remorse, or empathy, treat fellow human beings. If you would not want your son, daughter, sister, brother, grandchild, or parent treated this way, take a stand and sign every petition against animal abuse that you can find – wild and domestic, in the USA and across the world! YES, the pictures & videos are heart-wrenching but ignoring them does not solve the problem. Be brave for the innocent; when you ignore this cruel, heart-less behavior, you are giving more power to the abusers.

  2. Another reason to hate China and their backwards and barbaric ways always blaming animals instead of taking responsibility for their disgusting acts towards innocent animals . Eating and killing what ever moves . THIS NEEDS TO STOP !!!!!!
If they are not eating dogs , they are beating them to death. F$&@ uncivilized culture !
They have no boundaries for their Cruel behaviors towards both wild and domestic animals and we are all now paying for it !

It’s not their fault that the poor babies are homeless, they probably had a home and some uncaring heartless POS dumped them. And yeah evil bastards like future serial killers sadly would love this opportunity. If these brainless stupid people had any intelligence at all they would know that you cannot catch it from dogs, you catch it from bats! The demented cruel Chinese have their own horrible way of cooking them… then eating and spreading the disease. Poor doggies, the AHs are probably also using this as a way to clean the streets of them. How very very sad all the way around.

  4. Lets hope that vile china’s revolting human dog and cat abusing/murdering inhabitants are wiped off the planet with the corona virus.

  5. LET’S HOPE CHINA DISAPPEARS FROM THE PLANET!
LET THEM DIE WITH HUNGER, DON’T BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM
LET’S CUT EVERY POSSIBLE CONNECTION WITH THE BASTARDS

Brainless cruel Chinese people. Always blaming animals when humans are the one who have started this by eating all sorts of animals. What do they think of themselves.I think animals have given them a lesson which they really needed. Don,t try to take the world.

CHINA is an abomination, in many respects! The USA CANNOT & SHOULD NOT rely on China for anything in the future – they are going to suffer even more for their ignorant & barbaric ways!!!
They are a sad example of what a communist/socialist government does to its inhabitants!

  8. Bastard chineses, let all animals live in peace!!

  9. Bastard chineses, let all animals live in peace!!

    Ban it!

  10. The cruelest and most evil country in the world!!! Nothing but a bad stain on it, need to get rid of that stain!! Stuff ALL those freaks in a WOOD CHIPPER!!!!

  11. Why do people just look for a reason to dump their pets? Those poor babies have no ideal why the people they love just dumps them anywhere on the side of the road or in a kill shelter! This world is so sad, why get them if you just throw them away for no reason!
