Protect Endangered Mouse from Extinction

Target: Vicki Christiansen, Chief, U.S. Forestry Service

Goal: Protect the endangered New Mexico meadow jumping mouse from extinction.

The critically endangered New Mexico meadow jumping mouse may soon face extinction. It has been failed by the U.S. Forestry Service and left to fend for itself in the face of development, pollution, and habitat loss. Sign the petition to demand that the species be protected.

When the mouse was listed as endangered, the U.S. Forestry Service was supposed to protect its habitat within national parks, including the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. However, little has been done in the years since. No fencing has been installed, feral predators run wild, and there are no grazing regulations in place. Horses and cows have caused considerable damage to the mice population.

Conservation groups are now suing the U.S. Forestry Service for its neglect. Sign the petition to add your voice to the fight. Demand that the organization do its duty to protect the lives and habitat of the endangered New Mexico meadow jumping mouse.

Dear Chief Christiansen,

The New Mexico meadow jumping mouse is one of the most at-risk species in the southwest. When it was listed as critically endangered, it became your duty to enforce regulations and protection within America’s national parks. You failed in this duty.

Feral predators run wild. Cows and horses are not fenced in, trampling the species and its habitat. You are now being sued for failing in your duty. Before this lawsuit moves further, you have a chance the make things right. I demand that you protect the meadow jumping mouse from extinction.

  1. Please help the mice

  2. We need to keep as many species as we can even if they seem insignificant. Every animal has its place on this Earth and is tied in with all other creatures including man. Being an apex species, doesn’t mean that we will always have what we need to survive here. We really do depend on other species that are lower on the food chain. Yes, even a little mouse.?

These little animals need protecting too!
