Target: Patricia Valusek, Chair of the New York State Humane Association
Goal: Support efforts to educate law enforcement on animal abuse in New York.
Members of law enforcement often have minimal training on how to detect and handle animal abuse, neglect, or cruelty cases. The New York State Humane Association has been traveling across the state to train various police agencies on how to handle these types of cases. Patricia Valusek, the chair of the New York State Humane Association, headed the workshop circuit in order to ensure justice for animals in the state of New York.
The training consisted of daylong workshops, where the officers learned the signs of abuse and how to work through multiple agencies for the common goal of animal safety. The issue of animal abuse is multi-faceted, but can be resolved for everyone’s benefit with proper training. The training also calls attention to the fact that animal abuse is often an early indicator of violent tendencies with humans.
This training is invaluable, and would not be possible without the efforts of the New York State Humane Association. This training will help to save the lives of countless animals, and can also help prevent future abuse in human relationships as well. Please sign the petition below to show support and gratitude for the work being done to help abused and neglected animals in the state of New York.
Dear Patricia Valusek,
Humans often see animals as a source for their own joy, without recognizing the animal as its own independent being. The training you and the rest of your staff are providing for New York police departments is giving animals their voice back. This training will help to equip law enforcement with a better understanding of how to serve every member of their community, particularly companion animals.
You have my gratitude and full support in your efforts to enhance the legal system for the benefit of animals.
