Justice for Dog Beaten With Belt

Target: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief, Rodney Monroe

Goal: Punish man for allegedly beating his pet dog before stuffing the animal in a crate.

Police are investigating a man after a video surfaced on social media portraying an act of animal cruelty in Charlotte, North Carolina. An undisclosed witness who saw the man beating the animal with a belt in his yard captured the video. Authorities charged him with animal cruelty after watching the video.

People who watched the video reached out to local news stations and shared the footage on their social media pages, helping it become circulated rapidly all over the Internet. The video has now been watched and shared thousands of times on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. The video shows a blurry image of a man aggressively beating a dog and then placing it back in a crate. Charles Lamont Davidson, the man allegedly captured in the video, denies that he did anything wrong. In less than 24 hours, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police inspected the case and arrested Charles Davidson on animal cruelty charges.

Davidson gave up his ownership rights of the abused dog to local animal care and control, and the dog was examined by a veterinarian. Davidson’s second dog was also taken into the custody of animal control. Although they did not find any clear physical injuries, his dogs did display submissive behavior. The dogs will remain at the facilities while he is on trial.

Please sign this petition to punish Charles Lamont Davidson for allegedly abusing his pet dog with a belt in the event that he shown to be guilty.

Dear Police Chief Rodney Monroe,

Outrage sparked after a video, allegedly showing Charlotte resident Charles Lamont Davidson, surfaced and went “viral” on social media. Sadly, that video allegedly showed him abusing his pet dog with a belt and shoving it back into a crate. It is discouraging to know that Davidson’s dogs showed signs of submissiveness when examined by the veterinarians. If he is not properly punished for this terrible crime, it is very likely that he will do it again.

Animal abusers need to be heavily penalized for their actions. Stricter punishment means that people will think twice before abusing animals in their care. The amount of abuse would not be as rampant as it is right now if penalties were enforced. Thank you and the police department for charging him with animal abuse. Please make sure that Davidson is rightfully punished for abusing his innocent pet if he is convicted.
