End Mass Slaughter of Wild Birds

Target: Isa Kalantari, Head of the Department of Environment in Iran

Goal: Strictly enforce laws prohibiting poaching of wild birds.

Millions of wild birds are succumbing to sports hunters in the Middle East, prompting concern among environmentalists. Even in countries where anti-poaching laws are in place, such as Iran, enforcement is limited. Demand that Iran take action to protect the world’s most endangered birds.

A recently concluded study, conducted by the Ornithological Society of the Middle East, estimated that at least 1.7–4.6 million birds of at least 413 species are killed or taken illegally each year in the middle east. Many of them are shot down or trapped while on a migration path. These birds include several endangered species such as the white-headed duck and the sociable lapwing. The most prevalent reason for the disappearances is sport hunting, an act which is illegal in Iran. These laws are in place to protect certain species from extinction, but lax enforcement has practically nullified them and given poachers free reign throughout the country.

Action must be taken at a national and local level in order to restore the wild bird populations. Sign below to demand that Iran enforce its anti-poaching laws and ensure consequences for those who threaten wild birds.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Kalantari,

A mass slaughter of wild birds throughout the Middle East has called attention to Iran’s minimally enforced anti-poaching laws. Sports hunting has been named the leading cause of bird disappearances and deaths in the region, an act that is supposedly illegal within Iran’s borders. Even endangered birds, such as the white-headed duck, have not been spared as they pass through Iran on their migratory path, a proverbial death row for over 400 bird species.

This is unacceptable. These species have a right to exist alongside humans and their rampant slaughter will forever change earth’s ecosystem. I demand that you do your part and strictly enforce your anti-poaching laws. The world will thank you for it.

Sincerely,

I demand that Iran take immediate action to protect the world’s most endangered birds.

I am absolutely sickened by the unimaginable atrocities committed against our precious and beautiful wildlife especially by the f—— and evil Hunters and psychopathic depraved animal torturing monsters from hell.

No innocent and helpless animals are safe from the lowlife
animal torturing and animal murdering human species.

All animal torturers and animal murderers must be caught and put to death. This is the only way that these animal torturers and animal murderers can be stopped. Kill them all.
