Support Organization that Rescues and Rehabilitates Abused Elephants

Baby Elephant Born at Elephant Nature Park

Target: Lek Chailert, Founder of Elephant Nature Park in the Chiang Mai province of Thailand

Goal: Thank organization for providing a reputable home for abused elephants.

The Elephant Nature Park provides a better life for elephants that have been formerly abused. Besides rescuing animals, the organization educates the public about elephant conservation and does whatever possible to help surrounding communities and the environment.

Performing these tasks is not easy, since Thailand is currently under martial law. Unable to host many public events under such circumstances, the organization has instead come up with a clever online campaign to educate children in the region and people in other parts of the world about elephant cruelty. On their website you can see people standing in front of elephants bravely holding signs with conservation messages on them. Some signs discourage buying ivory products, which encourages the inhumane treatment of these majestic creatures.

Their website is further full of heartfelt stories about the animals they rescue. One elephant named Sri Prea was forced to work at a logging camp and was later placed into a breeding program. When the animal did not become pregnant, the owner sold her. She now lives a much more fulfilling life at the sanctuary. Like the other elephants there, she was left alone to find and bond with her own social group. Instead of humans choosing how and when this animal gets to interact with other people and elephants, the elephant now gets to decide these things for herself.

In addition to all of this, the Elephant Nature Park helps to plant trees in an effort to replenish the rain forest. They help villagers to maintain their cultural way of life by buying agricultural products and they even help to maintain local economies by providing people with employment opportunities.

Sign this petition to say that you support and recognize their hard work and efforts. It is because of organizations like this that many animals are able to live the lives they truly deserve.

Dear Ms. Chailert,

Besides rescuing and providing a better life for abused elephants, your organization also does many things to help educate the public, as well as to support local villages. In addition, people at your sanctuary have helped to replant several acres of trees in the rainforest in order to ensure that the elephants will have a place to thrive many years into the future.

Since martial law has been set in place, rescuing and advocating for these elephants has not been easy. Still, you have continued your good deeds through an online campaign by urging people to stop the abuse of elephants through positive sign messages. You have even continued to rescue elephants and have provided them with good quality homes at your sanctuary.

It is because of your persistent efforts that many elephants are now able to live their lives in peace and harmony. Please know that the animal rights community supports you and thanks you for everything you do to better help these beautiful animals. It is with your help that we are one step closer to stopping the continuous harsh abuse of defenseless animals everywhere.
