Justice for Dog Left to Die in a Backpack

Target: William Evans, Police Commissioner of Boston

Goal: Find person responsible for leaving a dog to die in a backpack.

A dog was recently found stuffed into a backpack and left to die. Andrea DesJardins was walking through West Roxbury when she saw a backpack left under a bush. As she was walking past, she saw the backpack moving. To her surprise, the backpack contained a chocolate-brown Pomeranian dog.

Rescuers believe that the dog was left at least overnight in the bag due to her extremely low body temperature. Jan, the name given to her by her rescuers, is doing better and is recovering. However, the person responsible for stuffing Jan in the backpack is still out there and needs to be found. Demand that the person responsible is apprehended and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Evans,

While walking at the intersection of Center and Willow Streets, Andrea DesJardins spotted a backpack under a bush. DesJardins thought that the backpack looked suspicious, so she decided to investigate. She then noticed that the bag was moving and when opened it, she saw a small dog. Rescuers say the dog was left in the backpack for a least a day and her body temperature was dangerously low. The rescuers named her Jan. She is a chocolate brown, 9-year-old Pomeranian, and she deserved better than this.

This cruel act of abandonment needs to be punished. This innocent dog could have easily lost her life due to this neglect. This person didn’t just abandon her, they left her trapped in a bag with no way of escaping. This was an intentional act of animal abuse. We demand that this person responsible is found and prosecuted for their heinous crime.

Sincerely,
