Target: John McCarthy, State’s Attorney for Montgomery County, Maryland

Goal: Charge the man who allegedly beat his friend’s dog and denied him veterinary care with the maximum penalty possible by law.

A dog suffered blindness after he was allegedly beaten by his owner’s friend. The suspect reportedly hit the dog over the head and then denied him life-saving veterinary care. Demand justice for this poor dog.

Montgomery County police arrested 75-year-old Herbert Allen Green after his friend’s dog was reportedly injured while in his care. Police confirmed that Benji, a small poodle mix, had a bleeding head and suffered from lethargy when they removed him from Green’s home. A veterinary exam showed that Benji had gone blind after a possible blow to the head. Per police, Green admitted to striking Benji and not providing him with necessary veterinary care.

Benji remains in police custody at this time, but he will eventually be returned to his owner. Green was charged with cruelly beating an animal, inflicting unnecessary suffering or pain on an animal, and failing to provide an animal with necessary veterinary care, while the animal is in a person’s charge or custody. He has been released on bond. Sign below to demand that Green receives the maximum penalty possible by law, if convicted.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Attorney McCarthy,

A dog went blind after he was allegedly beaten over the head. The suspect reportedly admitted to hitting his friend’s dog and then denying him life-saving veterinary care. We demand justice for this innocent dog.

Montgomery County police charged Herbert Allen Green with multiple animal cruelty allegations, including beating an animal, after he allegedly beat his friend’s dog. Benji, a small poodle mix, reportedly bled from the head and appeared lethargic when police found him in Green’s home. Veterinarians confirmed that Benji suffered blindness due to trauma and required immediate veterinary care for survival. Benji remains in police custody as evidence in the case. Green was released on a $2,000 bond.

This alleged abuse must be punished. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty possible in this case.

Sincerely,

  1. John – I am so sick and tired of reading about these abuses to innocent animals with nothing being done about it. Please use your power and position to prosecute this asshole and get him off the street. This dog is now blind for life. WTF??????

  2. A 75-yr-old sadistic coward this time? Imagine all the innocent helpless lives he’s ruined and ended in all these decades. He deserves ZERO human rights; please go all out in his prosecution and get him put where he belongs where he can no longer torture anyone small and/or helpless.
