Send Lyka the Lioness to a Sanctuary

Target: Arthur Defensor Sr., Governor of Iloilo, Philippines

Goal: Save lioness from zoo where her health appears to be rapidly deteriorating.

In the Maasin Zoo in the Philippines lies a five-year-old lioness whom witnesses say is deteriorating inside of a small cage. This young female lion was born with an eye condition, and because of this, staff has called her a “breeding mistake.”  Although the zoo is government-funded, video footage has shown Lyka and other animals in apparently terrible condition.

The animals at the zoo are reported to be weak and unhealthy and need to be rescued from their current situation. Many visitors to the zoo have commented that Lyka looks neglected and depressed. This is not a place where these animals deserve to live the rest of their lives. Demand that action be taken and this zoo step up or be shut down, and animals such as Lyka be sent to a sanctuary.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Defensor,

No animal deserves to live its life in a cage for the amusement of humans. Even worse is when these animals are kept in unsafe situations in which they are neglected and kept in poor living conditions. This appears to be what is happening when it comes to the Massin Zoo. Many visitors have commented on the conditions in which these animals are kept, specifically Lyka.

Lyka is a five-year-old lioness who was born with an eye condition, and the staff repeatedly calls her a “breeding mistake.” She is kept in a small rusty cage where she is reportedly deteriorating every day. Lyka is only five, and she deserves to live out the rest of her life in peace, not in captivity. We demand that the Massin Zoo step up and provide a safe, clean place for their animals to thrive or the zoo be shut down and the animals such as Lyka the Lioness sent to a sanctuary.

Sincerely,

The only breeding mistake are humans who allow animal abuse.

Let Lyka live her life in much better conditions. What’s wrong with that part of the world?

  2. Dear Mr. Defensor,
Third world countries should not be allowed to have zoos or any places that keep wild animals in unsafe conditions. The majority of the time they don’t have the means of providing medical attention or enough food for them.
For the good of that innocent lioness please order that Lyka be sent to a sanctuary.
    Thank you!

Have a heart, Please allow this beautiful lion to live her life in a nice sanctuary. This isn.t a breeding mistake, there are people that are born blind does that mean that they are a mistake? Of coarse not. This lion looks like she’s starving, and in need of medical care that’s a human mistake. PLEASE SAVE LYKA. I’m Praying for you LYKA.

If the lion is still alive, please remove her immediately!!!

  5. THESE PEOPLE DON’T DESERVE ANIMALS THAT THEY CANNOT OR UNWILLING TO CARE FOR, THESE BIG CATS ARE BECOMING EXTINCT BECAUSE OF HUMANS. SEND THIS BABY TO AN APPROPRIATE SANCTUARY!

  6. SICK OF THIS KIND OF LOVELESS SINFUL HUMANS !! BAD KARMA WILL SURELY HUNT THEM WHOLE LIFE!! SET THE LION FREE BEFORE ITS TOO LATE! SHAME ON YOUR EVILS👽👹👾

  7. Mary J Zambrana says:

The Filipino government must have a full investigation of the animals in this and all zoos in their country. Lyka is probably one of many who are languishing there. Give these animals the rights to live out their lives in safety and care.
