Thank Rock Star for Speaking Out Against Animal Abuse

Tommy Lee

Target: Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee

Goal: Thank Tommy Lee for denouncing captivity and the cruelty that takes place at SeaWorld

At a recent Mötley Crüe concert in Chula Vista, California, near SeaWorld San Diego, Tommy Lee teamed up with the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to create a “SeaWorld Kills” scavenger hunt. This event proved to be a unique way to raise awareness to the inherent cruelty of SeaWorld, while giving one lucky fan a chance to go backstage to meet the famous drummer.

Before the performance, Lee tweeted, “Ready 2 rock #ChulaVista tonight! Whoever finds the #SeaWorldKills shirt at show gets backstage! See @peta 4 clues!” Fans followed PETA to receive clues to the location of the hidden shirt. Lee also sent out some strongly worded tweets throughout the night, including “F**k SeaWorld” and a poster that read “Not one orca at SeaWorld has died of old age.” The fan who found the “SeaWorld Kills” shirt quickly put on this new duds and tweeted an anti-SeaWorld ad.

This isn’t the first time that Lee has spoken out against the abusive practices of SeaWorld. Back in 2012, he forbid the marine park from using his music in its “Shamu Rocks” shows. In a letter to SeaWorld San Diego President John T. Reilly, Lee wrote, “Although we like to torture the human fans who willingly come to our shows, we don’t want to be a part of making innocent animals’ lives hellish. I’ve learned from my friends at PETA that these marine animals are very sensitive to sound, as they communicate by sonar, and loud noises mess with their most basic instincts and drive them more nuts than they already are when trapped in your tanks.”

Lee and PETA will also be holding scavenger hunts during Mötley Crüe concerts near other SeaWorld locations including Texas and Florida. Please take a moment to thank Lee for using his fame to speak out against animal abuse with these creative, fun and most importantly, informative scavenger hunts.

Dear Tommy Lee,

I was pleased to learn that you were teaming up with PETA to create “SeaWorld Kills” scavenger hunts at several Mötley Crüe concerts. This is such a fun and creative way to raise awareness to the abuse that runs rampant at SeaWorld facilities across the country.

Thank you for repeatedly using your fame and celebrity to speak out against the inherent cruelty of SeaWorld.

    Dove ci porteranno?
