Dogs, Chickens, and Pig Allegedly Kept in Squalor Deserve Justice

Target: Peter F. Kilmartin, Attorney General for Rhode Island

Goal: Demand that the woman who allegedly kept dozens of animals in squalid conditions, leading to the deaths of some, receives the maximum penalty by law.

Several animals died and many more suffered when they were allegedly deprived of food, water, and sustainable living conditions. Dogs and chickens were reportedly found living in an abandoned unkempt home. Demand justice for these poor animals.

Representatives for the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals were called to investigate a home after they received reports of a dog on the roof. When investigators arrived at the vacant property, they reportedly found numerous dogs and chickens living in their own excrement. Some were trapped in cages, officers stated, while others roamed free amongst rotten food. Investigators reportedly found the decaying carcasses of multiple animals, including one pig. The building’s water supply had been cut off, reports showed, and the animals did not have access to eatable food.

The surviving animals were removed from the property. Officers charged Korina Ferreira with 17 misdemeanor counts of unnecessary cruelty to animals. Per police, this is not her first time facing animal cruelty charges. Sign below and demand that Ferreira receives the maximum penalty by law, if convicted.

Dear Attorney General Kilmartin,

Dozens of animals suffered, and many died, when they were allegedly starved and kept in squalor. The animals reportedly lived in their own feces and urine and had no access to food or water. We demand justice for these innocent animals.

Officers with the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals charged Korina Ferreira with 17 counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty after she allegedly left dozens of animals in an abandoned home with no access to water or food. Per investigators, dogs and chickens lived in filthy cages and they were surrounded by their own urine and feces. Rotten food reportedly littered the home and investigators found a pig’s decaying carcass on the second floor. The surviving animals were removed and treated. Per police, this is not Ferreira’s first time facing animal cruelty charges.

This woman is a danger to animals and must be punished. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.
