Justice for Dog Killed on United Airlines Flight

Target: Oscar Munoz, CEO of United Airlines

Goal: Punish United Airlines employee for allegedly causing a dog’s death via forcing him into an overhead bin.

A 10-week-old puppy was killed on a United Airlines flight when a careless attendant reportedly forced the poor animal into an overhead compartment. The dog spent the entire flight barking, only to be found dead of suffocation once the plane landed; the family opened the compartment to find the dog completely still, with any attempts to resuscitate the dog proving futile.

This is not the first time United Airlines has been accused of criminal animal neglect or cruelty within the last year, but it is one of the most devastating cases to date. It is a miracle that the poor dog did not die on impact from a broken neck or spine, and that the dog survived as long as it did. The dog was already in a TSA-approved pet carrier, and the airline’s official safety guidelines state that pet carriers must be able to fit under the seat in front of the passenger; therefore, not only did this flight attendant allegedly violate the guidelines, but there was absolutely no valid reason to stuff the poor dog into the overhead.

This poor dog’s death is one more that could have been prevented. We must not let this airline continue to allow innocent animals to come to harm through negligence or outright cruelty. Sign this petition to demand justice for this dog and to ensure punishment for the allegedly negligent employee.

Dear Mr. Munoz,

A flight attendant under your employ allegedly killed a beloved family dog by forcing his carrier into an overhead compartment, despite your guidelines stating that pet carriers must be placed under the seat in front of the owner. The dog spent the whole flight barking only to be found suffocated to death when the plane landed.

According to news reports, your track record with animal safety is already questionable, despite many consumer protests, and this dog’s tragic death is just one more that could have been prevented. You must not only tighten your animal welfare and safety rules, but the attendant who reportedly let this dog die must be punished immediately. There is nothing that will bring the dog back, but his death need not be in vain.
