Dogs Reportedly Left to Die in Abandoned House Deserve Justice

Target: Timothy J. Cruz, District Attorney for Plymouth County, Massachusetts

Goal: Demand that the man who allegedly abandoned two malnourished dogs without access to food or water receives the maximum penalty by law.

Two dogs suffered and nearly died when they were allegedly starved and abandoned. The suspect reportedly left the malnourished dogs behind to die after he fell on hard times and was unable to feed them. Demand justice for these poor dogs.

“It broke my heart. The poor dogs were so happy to see somebody which made me believe they were just left there,” stated Susan Sweeney of Eversource. Sweeney arrived at Tyrone Mendes’ residence to shut off the utilities and reportedly found the two dogs, named Bentley and Ace, in poor condition. Bentley was so emaciated that his bones showed through his skin, police stated, and feces and urine filled the entire house. Per rescuers, both Bentley and Ace suffered from malnourishment and showed signs of extreme stress and anxiety.

The Animal Rescue League of Boston took custody of Bentley and Ace and they are slowly recovering. Mendes has been charged with animal cruelty. Sign below and demand that Mendes receives the maximum penalty by law, if convicted.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Cruz,

Two dogs were allegedly starved and left to die in a shocking case of animal cruelty. The suspect reportedly moved out and left the malnourished dogs behind without access to food or water. We demand justice for these innocent dogs.

Rochester police charged Tyrone Mendes with animal cruelty after he allegedly starved and abandoned the two dogs. Bentley and Ace, a pit bull and a mastiff, were reportedly dangerously malnourished and lived in their own feces and urine. Bentley weighed only 20 pounds at the time of his rescue, police stated, and his bones showed through his skin. Per rescuers, the dogs also showed signs of stress and anxiety. Bentley and Ace are slowly recovering and will be re-homed soon. Mendes will answer for his charges at a later date.

This horrific abuse must be punished. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.

Sincerely,
