Justice for Horribly Abused Parade Horse

Target: Jeff Landry, Attorney General of Louisiana

Goal: Demand rider be punished for reported abuse of parade horse.

The Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals caught and punished a rider reportedly abusing his horse during the Krewe of Oshun less than a week after the incident occurred. The incident had been captured on video and uploaded to Facebook, generating outcry and a quick investigation by the local authorities; soon after, the unnamed rider was given a citation. The horse will be taken into custody by animal control, and the rider has been banned from future parades.

The abuse of any horse by their rider is an unforgivable crime, and that holds especially true for parade horses. Horses in general are skittish creatures with frail nerves, and the loud noise and busy atmosphere of parades can easily frighten even the most well trained horses. The rider reacted in the worst possible way; not only was he allegedly needlessly cruel to the animal, but he could have injured himself had the horse thrown him.

It is remarkable that the LSPCA caught this abuse so quickly and that the rider has been banned from future parades, but those are only the first steps. We must ensure that this rider faces the full consequence of his reported actions as soon as possible. Sign this petition to demand the man be held accountable for this alleged abuse.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Attorney General Landry,

A rider for the “Nu Generations” group in the Krewe of Oshun parade was reportedly caught on video abusing his horse. Thanks to the quick action of the authorities, he was given a citation and barred from riding with the group in future parades, but these are only the first steps.

Horses are very skittish creatures, especially parade horses due to the noise and high activity levels of parades. The rider was reportedly seen punching and kicking the horse in order to force it to obey his commands, the worst possible thing he could have done in such a situation. Not only was this reported incident blatant animal cruelty, but he could have been injured had the horse thrown him. You must punish this rider to the full extent of the law for such horrible cruelty, if he is found guilty.

Sincerely,

  1. Kathy Lenehan says:

Attorney General Jeff Landry, Perhaps you can clear something up for me. The alleged abuser of the horse has been banned from participating in further parades, but how is that protecting that horse and any others he may have? It appears to me that’s only the first step and only hides the problem. I understand the horse was taken into custody; has there been any follow-up?

  2. What the hell is wrong wit people? What did this beautiful horse ever do to deserve such treatment. I wish the law would get stiffer for these monsters that are abusing these sweet horses just everywere.

  3. I DON´T CARE ABOUT THE RIDER!!! THE MOST IMPORTANT IS THE HORSE. THIS ACTIONS PROMOTE INSENSIBILITY, UNCONSCIOUSNESS, AND VIOLENCE BETWEEN US. STOP THIS CRUELTY!!!! IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE AND WE HAVE TO EVOLVE!

    • I agree with you. Animal abusers should ALL be shot, they are wicked and the only way for animals to be safe is to eliminate these Retards. So, where are the Animal Loving vigilanres??

  4. Lynne Sapienza says:

this indidual should be prevented from owning any kind of animal ever.

  5. Any form of animal cruelty is never alright and the individuals who purported the actions punished. Disgusting.

  6. OMG…….MAYBE this guy doesn’t know how to take care of a horse or doesn’t care either way he should be monitored to see how he is treating the horse. If he continues to abuse and harm this horse it should be taken from him and rehomed.

We the public are watching the outcome of this case.

  7. Good for nothing coward …

  8. A “citation”?! A public THRASHING of this a-hole would fit his crime more appropriately!
