Support Clothing Manufacturer’s Commitment to Go Fur-Free

Target: Mildred Gelber, Alan Cirker, and John Niethammer, leaders of Alpha Industries

Goal: Applaud the decision to protect animals from cruelty by manufacturing only fur-free products.

A major American clothing manufacturer has agreed to stop selling fur, and to ban it from all designs in the future, to combat the rampant animal cruelty of the fur industry. The company, Alpha Industries, made this commitment after learning from PETA that many animals are inhumanely trapped, caged, and even skinned before being killed for their fur. Fur farms in China (the world’s largest fur exporter) deprive animals of food and clean water, as is exposed in a video by PETA. Animals are killed by gas, poison, and electrocution, but sometimes die torturous deaths when they are caught in steel traps. If they do not attempt to escape by chewing off their own limbs, they often die of infection, gangrene, or by being beaten or stomped on by trappers.

Alpha Industries’ promise to ban fur in its clothing will make a notable impact in fighting this corrupt and brutal industry. The company began as a contractor for the U.S. military and expanded to supply consumer military-style fashion. It distributes clothing across the nation as well as internationally. Its civilian gear is sold online as well as at major retailers such as Nordstrom, Urban Outfitters, and Saks Fifth Avenue. The company’s commitment to going fur-free is a major positive step for animal welfare across the world. Sign below to support this compassionate and humane decision.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Leaders of Alpha Industries,

Thank you for your pledge to stand against animal torture and cruelty by going fur free. As an American manufacturer with wide distributions both national and international, your company is able to set a positive example and truly live up to the meaning and responsibility of being an American business.

Your commitment to no longer sell or design clothing using animal fur is a victory for compassion and for animal welfare. As PETA has revealed in a video expose, fur farms are cruel and brutal places where animals are horribly abused and tortured before being killed for their fur. I support Alpha Industries in its decision not to be part of this cruelty, and to go fur-free.

Sincerely,
