Ban All New Cosmetics Tested on Animals

Target: Bill de Blasio, Mayor of New York City

Goal: Do not allow the sale or import of any new cosmetics that have been tested on animals.

New York City may soon join the European Union, Israel and India in banning the sale and import of all new cosmetic products that have been tested on animals, thanks to a bill introduced by Cruelty Free International. New York would then become the first city in the United States to recognize that cosmetic products that have been tested on animals are unethical, and therefore are unacceptable.

Cosmetic testing on animals subjects countless rabbits, guinea pigs, mice and other defenseless creatures to harsh chemicals and other substances that often result in excruciating pain and injury. In many cases, animals are killed or must be euthanized as a result. However, this cruel form of testing is entirely unnecessary, and humane alternatives like artificial skin exist for ensuring that shampoo, makeup and other cosmetic products are safe for human use.

There is no need for any new cosmetic products to rely on such outdated and barbaric testing procedures. Sign the petition below to demand that New York City send a signal to the rest of the nation by banning the sale and import of all new cosmetics that have been tested on animals.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mayor de Blasio,

For the past several years, animal welfare advocates have pushed for a ban in New York City on new cosmetic products that have been tested on animals. With the introduction of the recent bill sponsored by Cruelty Free International, New York now stands to make history and become the first city in the United States to impose such a ban.

Cosmetic animal testing is unnecessarily cruel and results in the torment and painful deaths of many small animals, including rabbits, mice and guinea pigs. There are many known safe chemicals that can be used, and more humane testing methods like artificial skin, that have made animal testing obsolete. Therefore, we, the undersigned urge you to show your support for this bill and to do what you can to ensure that no new cosmetic products that have been tested on animals will be sold or imported into New York City.

Sincerely,

Animals should not be tortured in evil laboratories for any kind of business

  2. Along with myself my sisters and my three daughters her friends and my friends have all refused to buy any products tested or using any part of animals and we make every effort possible to let our friends know what companies test on animals so they won’t use them either. We also spread flyers and announcement every time we get a chance to notify everyone we can about companies that test Cosmetics on animals. There are easy and Humane Solutions like using Cosmetics that don’t test on animals so why are they still doing this.
