Protect Animals from Violence and Abuse: Push Animal Welfare Legislation Forward

Target: Kevin McCarthy, Majority Leader, U.S. House of Representatives

Goal: Ensure that animal welfare is prioritized in the new session of Congress by advancing major protective legislation.

The Animal Welfare Institute (AWI) is calling for animal welfare to be prioritized in our government, as the 115th Congress enters its second session. AWI said in a letter that it hopes “Leader McCarthy will make animal welfare legislation a priority. Each of these bills, which provide a practical and humane solution to pressing animal welfare concerns, have well over 100 co-sponsors and broad bipartisan support. We urge the majority leader to bring these bills forward for a vote by the full U.S. House of Representatives.”

These bills include important resolutions like the following: Pet and Women Safety (PAWS) Act, which would increase resources enabling victims of domestic violence to escape unsafe homes with their pets; Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture (PACT) Act, to forbid “crush videos” that depict cruel acts of mutilation and even killing animals to cater to human fetishes; and the Humane Cosmetics Act, which would do away with inhumane and outdated animal testing for cosmetic products. These bills, among many others, are vitally important to protect innocent animals from cruelty. Sign below to join AWI in demanding that Congress push this critical legislation forward.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Majority Leader McCarthy,

As the 115th Congress starts its second session, it is vital that animal welfare be prioritized. As the Animal Welfare Institute wrote in its letter to you, there are a number of bills that have garnered massive bipartisan support that must be put to the floor, all of which provide a “practical and humane solution to pressing animal welfare concerns.”

This legislation includes the PAWS Act and the PACT Act, both of which provide protections for animals from violent abuse. The former ensures resources for human victims of domestic violence and the pets who also suffer in the household, and the latter bans the distribution of “crush videos,” which depict animals being tortured, mutilated, and killed for sadistic fetishes. These and a number of other bills on the table are absolutely critical steps toward protecting the innocent and preserving humanity and compassion in our country. I urge you to ensure that animal welfare legislation such as this is brought to the floor for a vote and passed into law.

Sincerely,

  1. I’d like to make a crush and mutilation video of the assholes that do this to dogs. No mercy for these pieces of shit. Treat them as they do the dogs and see how long this kind of shit would exist. And, oh yeah, put the video on Pay-Per-View. You could make a million bucks from people that would really enjoy watches these assholes take their own medicine. I’d be glad to pay to watch a video of this.

  2. MAKE IMPORTANT LAWS TO DEFEND ALL ANIMALS CONGRESS NOW.

  3. This is the most important petition you will sign today instead of leaving feedback of how people are so cruel and need to go to jail for life this is the only way to stop them please sign this petition as it’s very important

  4. END THIS HEINOUS XRIME AGAINST ANIMALS. NO MAKE UP COSMETIC PERFUME IS WORTH IT. USE THE BODY SHOP SHOP MAC. LOOK FOR THE SIGNS ON THE BOTTLES OF PRODUCTS. TBIS HAS TO PASS. THANK YOU
