Thank Authorities for Saving Starved, Neglected Pets

Target: Thurston County Deputy Prosecutor, Christen Anton Peters

Goal: Thank authorities for charging man for holding animals in horrific condition in his home.

A deputy prosecutor discovered a horrific case of animal abuse in a home in Olympia, Washington. David Williford was charged with 12 counts of animal cruelty for holding a large number of guinea pigs, rats, and dogs in horrid conditions. Evidence showed that he used Craigslist to get the animals.

Court records show that he kept some of his dogs in his attic in cages with no basic necessities such as light, bedding, or food and water. Other animals were kept in dirty cages and some were hung from the walls. Authorities described the scene in Williford’s house as having blood splatters on the walls and animal remains in his basement and backyard. They rescued dozens of animals that were still alive, but they were extremely malnourished.

They were first alerted about the abuse when a friend stayed over at Williford’s house. The witness states that he wanted to report the abuse, but was threatened by Williford to keep it a secret. Evidently, the witness reported Williford despite the threats.

Williford found his animals through the online sale site, Craigslist. He did this by telling the animals’ original owners that he wanted to “rescue” them. The Thurston Animal Control is now cautioning people in the area to be more aware of who they sell and give their pets to through the site.

Williford is charged with six counts of first-degree animal abuse and six counts of second-degree animal abuse. The living rescued animals were put out for adoption. He is currently held on $150,000 bail. Please sign this petition to thank authorities for catching this animal abuser.

Dear Prosecutor Christen Anton Peters,

A resident of Olympia, Washington named David Williford has been charged with animal abuse because of the horrible scenes that you found in his home. His home was discovered to have dozens of animals living in unspeakable conditions. Authorities saw animal carcasses scattered in his basement and several malnourished animals throughout his house.

Thank you for looking into this case and saving the animals. The next step is to use news outlets and social media to warn the public of the risks of selling or giving away their animals on sites such as Craigslist. This will reduce the chances of this happening again. Thankfully, the animals were found alive are now being put up for adoption to their forever homes. Thank you for all of your great work.

  1. Am I alone in wishing these cretins could just be flushed down a sewer somewhere? This creep, the one who burned a puppy in a crate on the sidewalk, the thing who hung cats by their tails over a fire, and a hundred others I’ve read of, and the thousands I’ve _not_ read about, don’t need our compassion or understanding. They need put away.

  2. Cecily Colloby says:

Ty’s Mum, you are not alone. I also wish scum like this could be flushed away down a sewer. Better still, simply do to all animal abusers exactly what they have done to the animal, be it burning, drowning, kicking or any other disgusting form of torture that they carry out. If all these loathesome “people”were aware that they would face exactly the same thing as they do to animals, cowards that they always are, they might think twice about it. As things are, with so called “punishment” for these crimes being no more than a joke ,these evil scumbags have nothing to fear and, having been “punished” will simply do it again. They should be got rid of and I am sure there would be no shortage of volunteers to carry this process out.
