Praise New Jersey for Banning All Traveling Animal Acts

Target: Raymond Lesniak, New Jersey State Senator

Goal: Praise New Jersey for becoming the first state to ban all traveling animal acts.

In an overwhelming vote of 31 to zero, New Jersey has become the first state to ban all wild animal acts. The legislation, dubbed “Nosey’s Law,” sits on Governor Chris Christie’s desk awaiting approval. The law is named after an elephant who suffered terribly under her handler and is thankfully now at a sanctuary.

Animals forced to perform in circuses live a very unnatural life. When they are not performing, they are often kept in small cages where they have limited access to the outside world and friends. When they are performing, they are forced to do tricks in loud, crowded arenas while people jeer and yell at them. Trainers typically use pain and fear tactics to force these animals to perform. Life in the circus is not a happy one.

Sign this petition and praise New Jersey for becoming the first state to ban all traveling animal acts. A few states have banned traveling elephant acts, but hopefully this new law will inspire them all to take the next step.

Dear Senator Lesniak,

Recently, the New Jersey senate voted unanimously for “Nosey’s Law,” which was first introduced by you. This law has made New Jersey the first state to ban all traveling animal acts.

As you know, animals trapped in the circus face a variety of hardships. They are often taken straight from the wild and then put through a grueling process that uses pain and fear tactics to train them. When they are not being forced to perform, the animals are typically kept in small cages and have limited time to roam and socialize.

Thank you for taking a stand for all animals. Some states have already banned traveling elephant acts, but hopefully this new legislation will inspire others to follow in your footsteps and ban all traveling animal acts.

Thank you, New Jersey Senators! Thank you for banning all traveling animal shows. We as a society are capable of behaving in a more enlightened, kinder manner towards each other – including towards our nonhuman members, whose wellbeing is entirely at our mercy. Nosey’s Law is such an important step towards a less cruel, more enlightened society, one that we can all feel better living in. Senators, your unanimous vote in favor of Nosy’s Law is heartening!

Lets not get over excited folks.

Paperwork on a desk awaiting approval means jack shit…

Once it is APPROVED then we can sing and dance.
