Target: Bo Kjellson, CEO of Boras Djurpark animal park, Sweden
Goal: Do not euthanize innocent healthy animals to decrease zoo population or expenses.
A zoo in Sweden has killed nine baby lion cubs in the past six years for no reason other than that it could not afford to keep them. The CEO of Boras Djurpark, Bo Kjellson, seems to have no qualms about these senseless killings. It is the zoo’s policy to maintain breeding programs in order to ensure diversity in its wildlife, but when more animals of certain species are no longer needed, it is common for them to be killed. “If the animals cannot be moved to other zoos or if they are rejected by their group,” they are needlessly euthanized.
Kjellson stated, “It’s no secret in any way and we do not try to hide that we’re working this way,” and called this cruel and indifferent killing “a natural path for groups of lions.” Lions are listed as “vulnerable” on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Endangered Animals; but even for species that are not at risk of extinction, this zoo’s practice is inhumane and unacceptable. Dear CEO Kjellson,
The flippancy and carelessness with which Boras Djurpark seems to regard the lives of its animals is cruel and inhumane. Euthanizing healthy animals simply because the zoo does not want or cannot afford so many of a species is not an acceptable solution.
Is is not a “natural path” for nine healthy lion cubs to be senselessly put down over the course of six years. If other zoos are unable to take these animals then perhaps there are sanctuaries that can, or perhaps circumstances will change over time. Killing baby lions is absolutely not the answer. I urge you to stop the needless killing of healthy and innocent animals at your zoo.

Stop killing these innocent beautiful animals. There are so few left on this earth there is no reason to kill gods creatures. If you can’t take care of them then give them to those who can. You are horrible to just kill them when they should live. This makes me so sad.

If any zoo is killing healthy cubs simply as a form of birth control they should be closed and the animals sent to a sanctuary. Their are other forms of birth control to stop the animals from reproducing. Have they never heard of birth control pills or perhaps separating the male and female. WHAT KIND OF IGNORAMUSES RUN THESE PLACES.

London Zoo’s lions are so interbred that they are dying at a very early age. Why didn’t they take them and breed stronger strain of lions

This is outright murder! Any zoo that does this should be shut down and all animals placed in sanctuaries.
Sadly, humans think that they can play “God”, and sadly, they use killing these innocent young Cubs as a FORM OF BIRTH CONTROL. Wow. That is not good. No animals at this zoo are safe. None. They must SHUT DOWN THIS ZOO. There are other means of population control. Zoos are sadly, animal jail. Not sanctuaries. Disgusting.
Did you know, it’s documented, there are more BIG CATS living in people’s homes, than there are big cats living in all the Zoos in the USA. Sadly, if they didn’t get sent to other Zoos, they would’ve ended up being sold online, and stuck living in a persons home, than in the wild.
But still, it’s murder. Inexcusable.

Please stop them. All of these animals have and deserve the right to live. They are beautiful and precious. We need them in our lives. Please send them somewhere else, but don’t kill them.
