Applaud Charges Against Animal Abuser

Target: Cyrus R. Vance, Jr, District Attorney of New York County

Goal: Praise arrest and trial of man who brutally kicked a stray cat

A man arrested for punting a cat recently made his first court appearance, at which district prosecutors announced that they intend to press charges. Twenty-two-year-old Andre Robinson will stand trial for animal cruelty after posting a video to his Facebook page of luring a stray cat toward himself before kicking it high into the air. He and his friends are then seen laughing maniacally as the cat, now named King, lay momentarily stunned and unable to move.

After Mr. Robinson’s post went viral, it was brought to the attention of local police and district prosecutors, who promptly took him into custody and charged him with misdemeanor animal cruelty. Prosecutors are now taking the case quite seriously, in part due to the hundreds of emails and telephone calls they received from outraged members of the public.  If convicted, the Brooklyn resident could spend up to one year in prison.

Following the incident, the cat was taken to a local ASPCA animal hospital where it was treated for its injuries. King recovered quickly and now lives happily in Manhattan with an adoptive family.

It is imperative to meet random acts of animal cruelty with justice in order to deter similar incidents in the future. Now that the case is going to trial, the offender will face an appropriate punishment for his actions. Your signature will applaud the New York District Attorney’s Office for the tough stance they have taken against this callous crime.

Dear Mr. Cyrus R. Vance, Jr,

The Office of the District Attorney is seeking charges against a man who lured a cat toward himself only to punt it into the air as if it were a football. The 22-year-old Brooklyn resident will now stand trial for animal cruelty after posting a video of the act to social media which went viral. The man was quickly apprehended and charged after public outcry brought the video to the attention of the police. If convicted, the man could serve up to a year in prison.

The charges laid against Andre Robinson will ensure an appropriate punishment for his cruel actions, as well as set an example which may deter these types of incidents in the future. Thank you for your time and effort to bring justice to King the cat.

Good. Put him away long enough to show him this is not acceptable in our society. This way people will know that they will be held responsible for what they do. Hopefully that will help make the world a better place for humans and animals alike – someday!

  2. bina pannell says:

Maybe these same NY cops should go to Michigan and arrest their fellow cops for the savage, brutal, sick killing of an innocent dog.

  4. Emily March says:

How about reversing the process and using mr. Robinson as a football this time? Then have him draw up a report stating how it feels.

  5. Leslie Wilson says:

All the participants in this act of cruelty to animals should stand trial. Mr. Robinson should go to jail and the others involved should pay fines!

  6. I think it’s great that they are charging this creep, and wish him a long stay in prison. However, I think I have seen a similar petition about this guy before, and if I recall correctly, he is black. I can only wonder if he would have been charged if he were white (or rich?).

Studies prove that animal abusers move on form abusing, torturing and killing animals to doing the same to humans.

You have the chance to stop this monster now so please make sure that he is punished now. he should be jailed, fined, made to do years of community service, banned from having or being around animals and made to get psychiaric help as he is a sicko.

  8. Cecily Colloby. says:

I’d like to kick this scumbag-straight in the balls, if he has any…..Don’t waste taxpayers money by jailing him, just HANG him. Animal abusers would think twice if they thought they were going to get more than a slap on the wrist, which is all they get and which is why they continue to do it. Just hang them all and be rid of them…
