Don’t Eliminate Animal Rights Organization’s Authority

Target: Christopher Christie, Governor of New Jersey

Goal: Don’t strip police power from New Jersey animal rights organization.

New Jersey lawmakers have just passed a bill to shut down the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and any power of authority they have. The bill was rushed through without any thought after the State Commission of Investigation accused the organization of being “gun-carrying wannabe cops,” much to the outrage of NJSPCA president Steve Shatkin.

This selfish attempt to shut down animal rights in Jersey is beyond despicable. There is no evidence of the NJSPCA’s supposed mismanagement; the accusations being hurled at them are completely baseless. This bill was rushed, with absolutely no critical thought or discussion, a selfish attempt to silence those seeking justice and safety for animals.

The bill is headed for Governor Christie’s desk at this very moment, and we must do everything in our power to ensure that it is rejected on sight. Animal rights are more important than ever now, and we cannot allow selfish lawmakers to strip the power from any organization that can enforce them. Sign this petition to protect the authority of the NJSPCA.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Governor Christie,

Lawmakers have rushed a bill through to your office that would strip the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Animal Cruelty of any authority. The organization has been accused of mismanagement and “rogue” justice carried out by “wannabe cops,” despite there being no evidence of either; this bill is just an effort to quiet those seeking justice and safety for animals.

You cannot let this bill pass or support it in any way. Animal cruelty cases have been on the rise in the past year, with too many animals being hurt, neglected, or even killed. We need animal rights organizations to maintain their authority and power to ensure that this trend dies down and that those charged with animal cruelty are punished accordingly. Do not support this selfish, accusatory bill that was passed without any thought.

Sincerely,

  1. You should all read the SCI report and look at all the missing money if this agency before supporting it. There is a new structure that is much more efficient. Read all the report and all the newspaper articles before making uneducated comments.

  2. NEW JERSEY MAKE LAWS TO DEFEND THE GREAT ANIMALS.

  3. ALL THOSE USELESS, WORTHLESS, CRIMINAL POLITICIANS, AND”LAWMAKERS” MOST LIKELY ABUSE ANIMALS THEMSELVES. THEY ARE SO EVIL, MAYBE THEY WILL BECOME VICTIMS OF A HORRIBLE CRIME!

  4. Jaime Perez Jaime Perez says:

This law needs to stay in place and be fortified much stronger. Those who abuse animals should not be allowed to walk the streets. Those in authority need to step up and mete out very harsh punishments, no more slaps on the wrist and there you go.

  7. Since Trump came to power, America has started sliding back into the dark ages.
Let NJSPCA get on with their job of protecting animals and their rights.

The fact that the bill was “rushed through” is not reassuring.
