Success: Proposal Made to Ban Coyote-Killing Contests

Target: New Mexico Senator Mark Moores

Goal: Thank New Mexico’s Senate for taking steps to ban coyote-killing contests.

Coyote-killing contests may soon be banned in New Mexico, thanks to a bill that was recently passed in the New Mexico Senate. The bill is scheduled to move to the House of Representatives next for a vote. Show your support of this measure, which is a great step toward finally ending these cruel and unnecessary murders.

Wildlife killing contests have been a big problem in New Mexico as it has held the title for the state with the highest number of killing contests per year. While coyotes are a big target for these contests, other species like snakes, bobcats, prairie dogs, and badgers are also killed each year.

The growing problem has caught the attention of many conservationists and activists, including petitions from ForceChange. With the combined efforts of everyone fighting to spare these innocent animals their lives, success is within reach.

Animals should not be hunted and murdered for the mere entertainment of humans. While we are still few steps away from protecting all of New Mexico’s wildlife, the state’s Senate has made a great decision to pass this bill. By signing this petition below, you will be thanking New Mexico’s Senate for taking the measures to protect coyotes and support the passage of this bill and all other legislation that is directed to protect wildlife.

Dear Senator Moores,

New Mexico has obtained a bad reputation in recent years for being the state to hold the title for having the highest number of killing contests. Each year, numerous bobcats, prairie dogs, snakes, and badgers are cruelly killed to provide entertainment for humans. Coyotes are among one of the top animals targeted by hunters, as they are believed to be a nuisance to farmers and ranchers in the area.

However, many have taken action to help end these senseless killings. The greatest step taken has been the recent passing of the bill proposed to end coyote-killing contests by New Mexico’s Senate. This positive measure shows the government’s care for animals and its desire to protect them.

I would like to thank you for sponsoring this bill and supporting the ban on coyote-killing contests. This action will help to make an example throughout the state that wildlife deserves to be protected. Thank you again for your support and care to protect New Mexico’s wildlife.
