Use Fossil Fuel Revenues to Save Endangered Species

Target: Rep. Rob Bishop, Chair of the House Committee on Natural Resources

Goal: Force oil and natural gas companies to fund the conservation of our endangered species and habitats.

Thousands of endangered species may soon be protected. A bill in Congress, if passed, would allow states across the country to receive tens of millions of dollars annually for the protection of endangered species. Known as the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act, this legislation will give $1.3 billion to state conservation efforts.

This money will come from revenue made by the oil and gas industries, therefore making these corporations pay for the damage they have caused. Tens thousands of endangered species, from Alaska to Maine, will benefit.

This bill must pass. Currently, it sits in the House of Representatives. Sign the petition to demand that congressmen and women hold oil and gas companies responsible and take a stand in protecting our nation’s many endangered species.

Dear Rep. Bishop,

Tens of thousands of endangered species may be saved if congress approves the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act. More than $1.3 billion will be taken from the oil and gas industries and used to aid states in conservation efforts.

Oil and gas industries have been responsible for much of the danger our environment and the species it is home to face. It is only right that these industries now help rebuild from the damage they have caused. I ask that you and your fellow congressmen and women pass this legislation.

  1. Please pass this bill! Its only right that you repair the damage you have done!

  2. This is untrue! I have from a number of sources that this bill is crap and carefully crafted to disguise its’ actual intent which is to gut the ESA

  3. Wendy Jenks says:

DO NOT SIGN THIS! It is important to understand what this bill means, and it isn’t good for wildlife.

“Saving” endangered species under this act is a way to fast track their recovery so that they may be delisted to make their habitat available for gas and oil exploration. It is cleverly worded to garner support from the general public, but is a very BAD bill for our wildlife and our wild spaces.
