Applaud Animal Shelter’s Innovative Method to Increase Adoption Rate

human walking program

Target: Australia’s Lost Dogs Home

Goal: Praise shelter for bringing dogs to visit office workers during their lunch breaks in an effort to increase its adoption rate

Employing animals’ remarkable ability to calm people and to motivate people to exercise, Lost Dogs Home in Australia was able to increase adoptions through a Human Walking Program, in which dogs visit office workers during their lunch breaks. By petting and walking the dogs, office workers soon grew attached to their new furry friends, and adoptions upped dramatically.

With people growing tired of the guilt inducing television ads for adopting animals, Lost Dogs Home offers a refreshing take by getting people and the potential pet some fresh air. In addressing the commonality of how humans and dogs are contained in cubicles and cages respectively, Lost Dogs Home provides a chance for both beings to be free to enjoy one another’s company.

With increasing hours at work, people’s stress increases, leading to less time for family and friends, which can challenge relationships. For decades now, scientific studies have found that dogs support the health of humans, whether it is reducing blood pressure, allergies, or recovery time from illness. In the workplace, researchers discovered that there were less complaints and people were generally happier with a dog present and were more productive at work.

Please thank Lost Dogs Home for incorporating the healing help of animals for humans’ health.

Dear Australia’s Lost Dogs Home,

Thank you so much for implementing your Human Walking Program to aid in dog adoptions. People need a little push to realize the wonders a furry face can provide, whether it is helping them to relax or helping them to get moving.

Your program forces people to examine the ways in which people and dogs are both contained in cubicles and cages respectively and allows both to be free. A person’s lunch break can lead to a new life for a dog as a pet.

As work hours increase, stress levels often increase, straining relationships. Setting a time specifically to bond with another being and to exercise benefits both the dog and the person. It has long been acknowledged by scientists that dogs are able to improve humans’ health from lowering blood pressure to reducing allergies. In particular, studies have shown people in the workplace are happier with a dog around and that there were less complaints, contributing to improved work performance.

Please continue to provide your program, so that a hardworking, stressed person may find solace and a loving companion may find a home.

Why not support the organization ‘The Lost Dogs’ Home’ with some money! Running shelters is very expensive with rent, vets’ bills, food, etc. etc. Here’s a link to their website:
Click on ‘Donate’ and let your credit card do a little rescue work! The homeless dogs are well worth it!
