Save Puerto Rico’s Homeless Pets

Target: Donald Trump, President of the United States

Goal: Increase rescue efforts for pets left homeless by Hurricane Maria.

Hundreds of pets have been left homeless by Hurricane Maria, filling up shelters faster than the shelters can find new homes for them. Such a task is impossible given that Puerto Rico is still struggling to recover from the damage left by the storm, and it is the animals who suffer. Cats and dogs are tossed over fences or tied to gates, and shelters are forced to take in far more than they can handle. Adoption numbers are at an all-time low, as many feel they are ill-equipped to care for animals.

This is a tragic situation and will only get worse with time. People are still struggling to rebuild their own lives after losing their homes and jobs to the storm, and it is the animals who bear half of that suffering as their needs are pushed to the wayside. Many of these pets are not likely to survive living in overcrowded shelters, and once these shelters run out of room, many pets will still be forced to live on the streets.

We must step in and increase the rescue efforts for these animals, before the problem grows worse than it is. The United States must aid in the construction of larger shelters or the expansion of existing ones, send rescue teams to care for the animals, and urge adoptions among citizens who are capable of supporting a pet. Sign this petition to help these poor animals before they succumb to this dangerous situation.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. President,

Puerto Rico’s pet population is suffering in overcrowded shelters, many of which are exceeding their capacity in order to provide shelter for these animals. Owners who can barely afford to support themselves after losing their homes and jobs to Hurricane Maria are forced to abandon their pets on the streets. The day is fast approaching when even the largest shelter will not be able to accommodate all of these animals.

We cannot let this come to pass. These innocent animals are victims of the hurricane just as much as their owners have been, and worse, they cannot take care of themselves. Their chance for survival is slim to none; shelters will be forced to put many of them down, or they will simply starve on the streets. Adoption numbers are at an all-time low, and even rescue workers can only do so much to aid these animals.

The United States must step in to aid in the rescue efforts for these pets in any way we can before hundreds of them are either euthanized or die slow and painful deaths from starvation. Animals are just as important as people, and they deserve to be safe and happy.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. Animals are very important! They want to same things humans want! Save them! Help them!

  2. MUST GIVE THESE GREAT LIVES A CHANCE TO FIND HOMES AND RECOVER AFTER WHAT THEY SURVIVED NOW.

  3. CHOOSE TO SAVE THEM!!!!!!

  4. Come on, US! We know about this hurricane and we do sympathise. There is much to do but please- don’t ignore the pet population! Good people are working against great odds to save them but are desperate for money! Please help the rescue centres which are bursting at the seams. I sympathise with the puerto Rican people but please make some financial arrangement with them- these good people are struggling. Thank you.

  5. Ronald Rump DOES NOT CARE WHETHER IT’S HUMANS OR ANIMALS!!!! IMPEACHMENT IS THE SOLUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • This is no place for politics. How about offering a positive supportive statement to persuade the President to take action.

    • Jodie Sloane says:

lives of humans animals the earth and the troubled climate – how we fund address and manage these issues and the suffering ignoring these issues results in – it’s nothing BUT politics. IMPEACH IS RIGHT for a decent world for all earthlings!

  6. I think a GoFUndMe account would be more helpful than trying to get anything from the selfish care-less Trumpet.

    • Old Trump did not get his wealth by helping animals BUT, IT IS NEVER TOO LATE, save your soul and divvy up a few million to help the rescue please, you might even change people’s opinion NOW is your chance and the shelters are desperate , no pockets in a shroud

  7. This is important. Puerto Rica is poverty stricken and many animals have been abandoned due to the terrible storms, many with a $10 dollar bill attached to a note on their collar begging for someone to feed their dog. Animal charities such as PETA and Humane Society are crying out for donations to cover the teams of volunteers they’re sending over. Please spare $10 if you can …….

I wouldn’t trust Donald Trump with anything where precious animal are ivolved. You know what a monster him and his vile and evil bastard sons are.

We import dogs from other countries to save them from horrible conditions (wish we did more for cats).

Anyway, Puerto Rico is a territory of the US. Why the hell can’t we get some animal rescue groups to take cats and dogs from these overwhelmed shelters? Do a Freedom Flight.
    Charity begines at home.

God bless, and help, the Cat Man of Puerto Rico, and all other animal rescuers. They need us now.
