Justice for Dog Allegedly Allowed to Die by Groomers

Target: Richard Hawthorne, Gulf Breeze, Florida Chief of Police

Goal: Investigate and hold dog groomer responsible for allegedly allowing a dog to die.

A dog died of severe blood loss and injuries after reportedly being mauled by larger dogs at a Florida groomer. Mylania Wilson left her toothless Pekingese Mimi in the care of April Showers while away for Thanksgiving weekend, only to return just in time to watch the animal die; according to Wilson, the groomers broke their promise to keep her dog away from the larger dogs.

This innocent dog did not deserve such a horrific, painful end. Whether or not April Showers deliberately broke their promise, ignored Wilson’s request, or simply forgot, they allegedly allowed an animal to die in their care. Worse, Mimi is not the first victim; another dog was reportedly left in critical condition after being mauled at the facility weeks ago. According to Wilson, the facility does not have security cameras, and the dogs are simply left to their own devices.

Wilson has had minimal luck in asking for a shutdown or even an investigation of April Showers, and this is unacceptable. This grooming facility must be investigated immediately and held responsible for its alleged role in Mimi’s death and the condition of the dog before her. Sign this petition to demand Florida authorities get involved and help Wilson obtain justice.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Chief Hawthorne,

The April Showers dog grooming facility is allegedly responsible for the death of an eight-year-old Pekingese, who was mauled by larger dogs despite the owner’s request to keep her dog separate from them. Weeks earlier, another dog was reportedly attacked and left in critical condition. The owner of Mimi, the Pekingese, came home from Thanksgiving weekend in time to watch the dog die and is completely devastated.

You must initiate a full investigation of April Showers. The facility reportedly promised Mylania Wilson they would protect Mimi from the larger dogs, but they did not. Whether this is a case of a deliberately broken promise, forgetfulness, or ignorance of the request, they reportedly allowed an innocent dog to die in their care and are allegedly refusing to take responsibility for their alleged actions. You must investigate them and demand they accept their reported role in the tragedy, and that they improve their conditions as soon as possible. Mimi’s death need not be in vain.

Sincerely,
