Commend Organization for Helping Elderly Pet Owners

Meals on Wheels

Target: Meals on Wheels

Goal: Commend the organization for providing low-income seniors and their pet animals with nutritious meals

Meals on Wheels has always been a wonderful organization whose volunteers aim to deliver nutritious meals to low-income seniors.  After many Meals on Wheels volunteers noticed an increasing number of elderly seniors giving away their meals to their hungry pets, they began a partnership with animal shelters and other animal welfare associations. With this partnership, they are able to add free pet food to many of their food deliveries.

It is common for many economically disadvantaged seniors to want to feed their pet animals instead of themselves. Recognizing this as an issue because their clients could be sacrificing their own heath, Meals on Wheels decided to provide meals for the pets of their clients as well. These seniors rely on the organization’s food deliveries and now, they will no longer have to give up their meals so that their pets won’t go hungry. Pets have a special place in the hearts of many seniors due to the fact that they play an important role in providing love and compassion while also combating depression and loneliness. Thanks to the organization, these animals can quit eating steak and pasta and start eating donated cat or dog food.

While delivering food to elderly seniors in need is already a commendable act of kindness, ensuring that the seniors’ pets also receive nutritious meals proves that this organization goes above and beyond to reach their goal of feeding those who are hungry, regardless of the species. Sign this petition and thank the Meals on Wheels organization for benefiting the welfare of low-income seniors and their beloved pet animals.

Deal Meals on Wheels,

I would like to thank you for everything you have done to provide nutritious meals for independent, low-income seniors. I would also like to commend you for keeping the pets of your clients in mind as well. Since many economically disadvantaged seniors care so deeply for their beloved animals, they would risk sacrificing their health to ensure their pets don’t do hungry.

Because you recognized this as an issue and resolved the problem by providing free pet food in your meal deliveries, no one has to go hungry. These pets can quit eating their owner’s steak and pasta and start eating donated cat and dog food. Providing meals to seniors in need is already a commendable act of kindness. Ensuring their animals are also well nourished proves that this organization will go above and beyond to feed those who are hungry, regardless of their species. Thank you again for all of your work.

  6. Randy Lee says:

Thank you so much for your compassion for the pets as well as the elderly. Sometimes these pets are what keeps these elderly people with the will to keep going.

  7. Not only do they help with food (& litter for cats), they also help with getting the animals to the vet. I have called several times to get rides to get animals I foster spayed & neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped. They really go out of their way to care for the animals. They go above & beyond, & really do what they can to get all the care they can for the most vulnerable among us.
