Piglet Found Falling Apart From Neglect Deserves Justice

Target: Clifford Newell, District Attorney of Nevada County, California

Goal: Praise state District Attorney’s office for filing criminal charges against neglectful feed store.

A California feed store was reportedly discovered to be horribly neglecting their livestock when a piglet was discovered near death. The poor animal was reportedly literally falling apart, as portions of her ear were falling off, and she was covered in bites from larger piglets from whom she was unable to defend herself. Her rescue led to the discovery of hundreds of severely neglected chickens; 58 of these birds were reportedly dead, and others were so malnourished that they were feeding off those dead bodies. The District Attorney’s office intends to file criminal charges immediately.

This is a huge relief. Too many animals are forced to live in such horrific conditions in facilities such as this one, to the point where those who die are considered the lucky ones as they no longer need to suffer the pain of cramped cages, starvation, and sitting in their own waste.

With any luck, this store will be be forced change their ways to comply with animal welfare laws. Sign this petition to thank the District Attorney of Nevada for ensuring that the suffering of those animals was not in vain.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Newell,

Thank you for your intention to file criminal charges against the Simply Country feed store. The business has reportedly been neglecting their livestock to a horrific degree, allegedly forcing them to live in cramped, squalid conditions and allowing the living and malnourished chickens to feed on the bodies of the dead ones.

In this day and age, it should be a given that businesses properly care for any animals in their possession, yet such neglect continues on farms and in feed stores such as this. It is hoped that the consequences of their actions will force Simply Country to change their ways and take better care of their animals. Thank you for standing up for animal welfare by filing charges against this business.

Sincerely,

This has gotten so twisted. So many lies. Don’t believe everything you read. Please understand there are two sides to every story ? I fully support the feed store. They love their animals !!

  2. I live in this town also. I unknowingly was sold sick and infected birds. And many people that I know had the same experience. No apologies, no refund or anything else after I brought this situation to their attention. Nothing. And they never took a break from selling infected birds. A break was needed to disinfect and eradicate any remaining diseases present. I went in there weekly and saw for myself. They just kept selling diseased animals. They need to be accountable for all of the suffering of not only the animals but customers as well. I lost all of the birds that I purchased. That was a lot of money. What goes around comes around. They deserve punishment for all of their abuse.
