Thank ‘The Simpsons’ Co-Creator for Rescuing Abused Horse

Sam Simon

Target: Sam Simon

Goal: Applaud Sam Simon for speaking out against animal abuse and helping to retire abused racehorse

The Simpsons co-creator and longtime vegan Sam Simon paid to have Valediction, the racehorse whose abuse was uncovered by a recent investigation by the People for the Ethical Treatment of animals (PETA), retired to a beautiful farm in Virginia. Simon, a dedicated animal activist who is diagnosed with terminal cancer, has pledged to give away his fortune to various charities before he dies.

In a statement to PETA, Simon said, “I was not in the best of shape when I saw PETA’s video and heard about the condition of this horse, Valediction, but it was immediately clear the horse was in deep trouble. He had been run on bad legs to start with and had clearly been injured during the race and had stood there shaking, unable to put weight on his feet… When I see him in his blanket eating carrots, I know I helped one great horse… escape the track and live in clover until the day he dies.”

This isn’t the first time that Simon has acted in the best interest of animals. In 2013, Simon, accompanied by Pamela Anderson, traveled to St. John’s, Newfoundland to offer Canadian Sealers $1 million if they agreed to stop the annual slaughter of seals. In February 2014, Simon made the journey to Taiji, Japan to witness and raise awareness to the annual dolphin hunt in the Taiji Cove. On top of all that, Simon funded the purchase of a $2 million ship to help the Sea Shepard Conservation Society fight whaling.

Sam Simon is truly a champion for animals. Please take a moment to thank him for saving Valediction from his torturous trainers and for continuously fighting for the betterment of animals all over the world.

  8. Sharon Jacobs-Salinas says:

Thank you Mr. Simon for saving this racehorse from brutal abuse of the horse-racing world. Without your intervention he would have landed in the slaughter-house pipeline. What a wonderful feeling to know that will not be Valediction’s fate. God bless you for all you do for all animals. You are a God-send for these innocent, voiceless, loving creatures.
The animals need more people like you to speak for them. God bless.

  9. Janet Diehl says:

Thank you for your active support of animals needing extra care. You have set a high standard of using money to support ones values. Our country, & others, allow or fail to aggressively stop with adequately funding & “manpower”, far too much abuse & neglect of animals: domestic, farm, wild. It is a sad blight on the humanity of humans. Thank you for setting a higher standard.

  10. Thank you so much SIR for caring for these wonderful animals they deserve to be treated the way we are
