Praise Unique Effort to Save Shelter Dogs

shelter dogs saved

Target: Yehuda Netanel, founder

Goal: Praise organization for saving animals at risk for euthanasia

A nonprofit organization called Wings of Rescue is saving thousands of healthy shelter dogs that would likely be euthanized by San Bernardino Animal Control. The organization has flown over 6,000 cats and dogs to low-kill shelters where they have a much better chance at survival.

Wings of Rescue transports dogs to new homes and rescue organizations along the West coast and Canada. The dogs are safely flown via a private jet by a group of volunteers. Wings of Rescue has transported dogs, cats, new mothers and puppies, and animals in need of medical care to safer locations.

San Bernardino Animal Control has recently received negative attention for its high euthanization rates. One animal rights activist told ABC news that the city isn’t doing enough to quell the overpopulation problem. A police officer who oversees the shelter told reporters that a full-time rescue coordinator will be hired to help San Bernardino control its animal population. In the meantime, several rescue organizations are helping to alleviate the burden. Because of these efforts, healthy animals are finding new homes instead of being euthanized.

Applaud the efforts of Wings of Rescue and their network of rescue organizations that have given thousands of animals a chance at life.

Dear Yehuda Netanel,

Wings of Rescue is an innovative and compassionate organization that shows just how important it is to persevere and think outside the box. It serves as a wonderful example to the community, who may think that there is nothing they can do about shelter overpopulation.

Your organization has not only improved the lives of animals, but brought national attention to a problem that needs immediate action. Shelter overpopulation is not only an issue in San Bernardino, but an issue that has spread across the entire country. We hope that other shelters and rescues will see Wings of Rescue and be inspired to make their own innovative efforts to stop shelter overpopulation.

We would like to thank you for saving thousands of animals and drawing attention to such a crucial issue.

Talk about “heartening”! Every once in a while a person or group of persons step up above and beyond the norm and do something very special. Obviously Wings of Rescue is such an organization and in my book are up for all the praise, accolades and thanks than one can give. It does make one get that “warm and fuzzy” feeling when actions instead of words demonstrate both the ability to meet a problem head on and the desire and dedication to make a solution succeed. THANK YOU, WINGS OF RESCUE, YOUR ARE AWESOME INDEED!!!

  2. That story is so inspirational!

Yehuda Netanel sounds like an Israeli name, and like so often, the Israelis are the ones in the forefront of doing wonderful things for animals. Fur was banned in Israel, and another great animal organization, Hope For Paws, in LA, was started by an Israeli too. Those are just 2 of the many, many things I always hear about Israel and Israelis doing great things for animals. Yay Israel and please keep up the great work!!!! These poor, defenseless, voiceless, innocent animals desperately need you!!!

  4. Trudy Emmons says:

You are truly the wings of the Angels. I am one who will save a shelter animal when my 16 yr., old Lab goes to Heaven.

  5. Sheila Jefferson says:

    Thank you!!! 🙂

  6. Anne-Mari Gavin says:

    God’s very special angels!!!!
    Thank you for caring.
I am the Voice of the Voiceless
Through me the dumb shall speak
Till the world’s deaf ear be made to hear
The wrongs of the wordless weak.
Oh shame on the mothers of mortals
Who do not stoop to teach
The sorrow that lies in dear dumb eyes
The sorrow that has no speech.
From street, from cage, from kennel
    From stable and from zoo
The wall of my tortured kin proclaims the sin
Of the mighty against the frail.
    But I am my brother’s keeper …
Job 12:7,8,9 But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:
12:8 Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.
12:9 Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?

  7. Ty for saving for a life
