Museum Must Stop Promoting Animal Cruelty with Dog Fighting Video Exhibit

Target: Wendy Fisher, President of Guggenheim Museum

Goal: Stop promoting animal cruelty by featuring the video of pit bulls trying to fight.

A video showing American pit bulls trying to attack each other is being featured in an upcoming exhibit at the Guggenheim Museum. The video, titled “Dogs That Cannot Touch Each Other” shows eight pit bulls on a treadmill as they attempt to attack each other. The creators of the video, Sun Yuan and Peng Yu, are known for their disturbing “artwork.” The museum itself has defended the video and even referred to it as “artwork.”

By featuring this video in their upcoming exhibit, the Guggenheim Museum is basically promoting the cruel practice of dog fighting. It’s appalling that they would even consider this to be artwork. Please add your signature to the petition below demanding that the museum refuse to show this video in their upcoming exhibit.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Ms. Fisher,

It has been brought to our attention that a video, which shows eight American pit bulls attempting to fight, will be featured in the upcoming exhibit at the Guggenheim Musuem. The video’s creators are known for their disturbing artwork, yet the video is being referred to as “artwork.”

A video that shows dogs on a treadmill, attempting to attack each other clearly only promotes the cruel practice of dog fighting. We, the undersigned, demand that this cruel video be pulled from the exhibit.

Sincerely,

  1. This video is by no stretch of the imagination “art.” It is pure exploitation. A museum of the Guggenheim’s reputation would do better with it’s resources to help stop the animal fighting horrors by funneling money to rescue societies. Maybe opening one using the museum’s name to add some heft.
