Target: CEO of Animals Asia Jill Robinson
Goal: Commend organization for saving 130 bile bears
Bile bears are moon bears that have been caged for the majority of their lives to be farmed for their bile. These bears live in horrendous conditions, but the bears in Nanning, China are finally getting a break. They are being rescued by Animals Asia, who are turning the bear farm into a sanctuary for these animals. Commend the organization for their commitment to these animals.
The landmark campaign will save up to 130 moon bears, and it’s believed that 41 of the females are pregnant with cubs. Unfortunately, these bears will not be returned to the wild so they will spend the rest of their rest in captivity, but they will be saved from their original fate on the farm. The sanctuary will also be turned into an education center, and with the aid of the Chinese government, the sanctuary will provide meaningful work for the existing nine workers on the farm. The caretakers will be re-trained to be compassionate towards these animals, hopefully changing their attitudes and perception of moon bears. This initiative is groundbreaking and will no doubt give freedom and happiness to these moon bears.
The bile from moon bears is taken repeatedly from incisions taken from the bear’s gall bladder. This procedure is very painful to the bear. The bile is used in Chinese medicine, claiming to cure liver and eye ailments. Animals Asia has put away $5 million over the next three years to build a sanctuary for these animals. The bears will have dens, a pool, play area, medical care, an enrichment area, and a graveyard for bears that have passed away. Sign this petition and give your heartfelt thanks to this organization that is providing so much for these moon bears.
Dear Jill Robinson,
I cannot begin to express my gratitude towards what Asia Animals is doing for these moon bears in Nanning, China. Many of these bears have lived in cramped, filthy cages for their entire lives, and I can’t wait to see their reaction when they step on grass for the first time. Your organization is doing a wonderful thing by transforming this bile farm into a sanctuary.
Please continue with your work, as many more moon bears are suffering from bile farming. These bears deserve to live happily without undue suffering.
