Applaud the Retrieval of Stolen Cats

Target: Cat owners in Dalian City, China

Goal: Applaud the efforts of cat owners for collaborating online and initiating the search for their missing cats

Recently, around 1,000 wild and pet cats were snatched from the streets in Dalian City in the Liaoning Province. These cats were taken to be trafficked for their meat and fur, which is a common unfortunate fate that befalls many cats in China. The pet owners of the stolen cats stood together to combat this issue and get their beloved pets back.

Animal trafficking is a prevalent worldly issue, and cats are a major victim of trafficking for their meat and fur. Although eating cats is not illegal in China, stealing pet cats and trafficking the pets are crimes.

For approximately one month, suspected cat traffickers are believed to have scoured the streets of Dalian City every night to capture both wild and pet cats for trafficking. The devastated owners of the stolen cats reached out online to collaborate with fellow cat owners in the area. The pet owners utilized the Internet to disclose information that they had on suspicious sightings that were linked to cat-stealing and worked with the police force in Liaoning Province to track down the cat traffickers and to rescue their cats. Most of the cats were in healthy condition, since they were to be put up for sale. Around 300 cats were returned to their owners after the cat trafficking ring was uncovered and broken up. Six suspects were arrested at the site of the uncovered cat den.

Please sign the petition below to praise the efforts of the cat owners in collaborating online and initiating the search for their beloved pets. Having a pet taken away from you is a tragic occurrence, and these pet owners have taken swift action to right this injustice.

Dear Dalian City Cat Owners,

Hearing about the retrieval of 1,000 cats in the Liaoning Province in China was quite heartening. The fact that pet cats were taken from their owners to be sold for their meat and fur is just horrifying and I cannot imagine how much pain you were going through when you realized your beloved pets were being trafficked. You acted quickly, and secured the welfare of the pets.

I applaud you for taking the initiative to collaborate online to raise awareness about the cat-stealing ring, and to alert the police about the cat trafficking. Hundreds of the stolen pet cats are safely returned to their owners thanks to your efforts.
