Stop Slaughter of Buffalo in Grand Canyon National Park

Target: Michael T. Reynolds, Acting Director of the U.S. National Park Service (NPS)

Goal: Do not use the cruel method of culling to reduce the Grand Canyon National Park’s bison population.

The National Park Service is not only allowing hundreds of North Rim buffalo to be killed in Grand Canyon National Park, but is also asking for volunteers to participate in this inhumane act. Officials in the park have been struggling to keep the buffalo population under control, and the solution the NPS has chosen is culling, or the reduction of a population of wild animals through selective slaughter. In this case, this would mean the cruel extermination of one to two thirds of the current bison population.

Although buffalo overpopulation does present a genuine threat to other wildlife in the park, there many other humane, non-lethal ways of addressing the problem that are just as effective. These methods include relocating some of the animals, and the use of immunocontraception (a vaccine that affects an animal’s immune system and acts as birth control). There is no need to harm these innocent animals. Sign below to demand that these buffalo be saved and other cruelty-free methods used to reduce their population.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Director Reynolds,

The brutal slaughter of North Rim buffalo in Grand Canyon National Park is cruel and unnecessary. These innocent animals are iconic symbols of our country and do not deserve to be killed by volunteer culling squads.

While overpopulation is a legitimate problem, there are humane, safe, and non-lethal ways of addressing this issue, such as relocation and immunocontraception. I urge you to employ these methods and stop the unnecessary and inhumane killing of North Rim buffalo.

Sincerely,

Here we go again…killing, killing, killing, when there are many other humane, non-lethal ways of addressing the problem that are just as effective. I agree!
Also,This all tied in with a huge conspiracy going on right now, where all of our wild equines are being slaughtered too. Our gov, made a deal with China, and now they want to eat all of our domesticated and wild animals. The populations are being falsely reported as too high in order to justify this. We are losing them all to the corrupt politicians, the hungry, hungry Asians, the cattle industry and all others in for their share of the blood and guts. Please be vegan and keep up the good fight.
