Justice for Horse Reportedly Kicked by Angry Rider

Target: Dennis Suskind, President of the Hampton Classic Horse Show

Goal: Initiate thorough investigation of rider accused of kicking her horse during show.

Hampton Classic competitor, and wealthy heiress, Jazz Johnson-Merton reportedly kicked her horse, Joe Cool, in a fit of temper after falling off during an event. The show’s stewards reported the event to the United States Equestrian Federation, but the judges and the stewards are both considering the incident a “gray area” for varied reasons. Johnson-Merton has denied kicking her horse.

Johnson-Merton’s reported actions were not only poor sportsmanship, but, if true, are abusive to the horse who worked hard for her sake. Show horses deserve much better treatment than to be used as tools for winning, and then abused when things do not go the rider’s way. If this is what happened, Johnson-Merton must be punished.

Johnson-Merton’s alleged actions must be investigated thoroughly. Even if the horse was not badly injured, it is still not okay if he was kicked. Sign this petition to demand justice for Joe Cool by conducting a thorough investigation.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Suskind,

Two judges and two stewards at the recent Hampton Classic reported a rider kicking her horse after falling off during an event. While the incident was reported to the United States Equestrian Federation, it has yet to be determined if action will be taken against the rider due to the witnesses considering it a “gray area.”

If the horse was kicked, the rider had no right to take her anger out on the partner who worked so hard for her. Show horses deserve to be treated with respect and care.

Please call for an investigation of Jazz Johnson-Merton and ensure that she will face consequences if she is found responsible for any animal cruelty.

Sincerely,
