Save The North Atlantic Right Whale

Target: Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Canadian Fisheries and Oceans

Goal: Save North Atlantic right whales from extinction.

Fewer than 500 North Atlantic right whales exist on this planet after many died needlessly tragic deaths this past summer. Some were caught up in fishing nets, others by collisions with boats. The death count for this species was three times higher than normal, a frightening rate for this particular species.

Whales as a whole have been hunted to near-extinction, died due to the loss of habitat, or been casualties of boating or fishing mishaps. The right whale’s unnaturally high death toll this summer is another grim reminder that these poor creatures are never truly safe despite great efforts to protect them. We must always be strengthening our efforts, demanding stronger protection, and doing our part to keep the whales safe and alive.

Do not let this species die out. Sign this petition to demand Canadian fisheries and wildlife services stop at nothing to protect the remaining North Atlantic right whales.

Dear Minister LeBlanc,

Eight North Atlantic right whales have died in the past two months, an unnaturally high death count bringing the species’ surviving numbers down to less than 500. These poor creatures were either caught in fishing nets or killed in collisions with boats.

This species is in severe danger of total extinction, and you must do more to protect them. Outlawing the use of fishing nets, enforcing stricter rules for boat operators, and keeping their habitat clean are the keys, in addition to the laws already in place to protect whales as a whole. Whales have suffered enough over the past few decades, and we must continually strengthen our efforts to protect them.

Help us save the remaining right whales from extinction by enforcing stronger protection laws.

  2. I have seen whales firsthand and let me tell you that they are sight to behold. What such gentle giants. Truly a gift and something that we must fight to protect.

Even if there were more strict laws – I seriously doubt whether Canadian officials would be enforcing them any more than they are now – much less to the best of their abilities – – –
