Commend Senator for Opposing Mass Bird Killings

Target: Tony Avella, New York State Senate

Goal: Commend Senator Tony Avella for opposing crow killing competitions

New York State Senator Tony Avella recently opposed an upcoming Palenville, NY crow hunting competition in which contestants earn prizes for killing the most crows. The mass extermination of wildlife as a form of entertainment is an act that needs to be condemned, and Senator Avella needs to be commended for stepping up and doing so.

Killing wild animals for fun is not acceptable human behavior under any circumstances; the organization of elaborate competitions, like Palenville’s “Crow Down,” to endorse and celebrate the killing of wild animals is abhorrent for its attempts to legitimize the notions that animals have no rights and that it is therefore okay to treat them in a cruel and inhumane manner. Senator Avella publically questioned why these competitions that “promote the slaughtering of countless defenseless animals…continue to be accepted as a general ‘family fun day’ in New York State.” Fighting for the protection of animals and their rights and welfare, Senator Avella co-sponsored a new Senate Bill that would criminalize all competitions centered around the mass killing of wild animals.

With support, the Senator’s Bill may pass, and New York may never host another crow killing competition. Commend Senator Avella for his efforts to fight for animal welfare.

Dear Senator Avella,

I would like to commend you for speaking out against Palenville’s upcoming crow hunting competition as well as your co-sponsorship of Bill #S.407, which hopes to prevent such contests from taking place in New York. Organized competitions, open to children and to adults, that advocate and celebrate the mass killing of wildlife attempt to legitimize the notion that animals have no rights and that it is therefore okay to treat them in a cruel and inhumane manner. Politicians who oppose these contests need to be applauded for their efforts to make our society a more humane place.

Thank you for fighting for the rights of wild animals in your state and for trying to bring a little more humanity to its people. By fighting to ban competitions like the “Crow Down” from taking place you are also setting a good example for your fellow Senators to follow. Thank you again, and please continue your excellent work.

What kind of heartless beings are we, to make sports out of killing innocent creatures, and then rewarding them for it??
People participating in this are definitely missing a gene,
the one that gives you a conscience, and a caring loving heart for all creatures of this earth!!!!!
