Don’t Kill Off Bears and Wolves

Target: Gratiela Gavrilescu, Environment Minister of Romania

Goal: Don’t let hunters kill 140 bears and 97 wolves by the end of the year.

Romania has been looking to relax a hunting ban on both wolves and bears. The announced plans follow a recent uptick in animal attacks on humans and complaints from farmers and villagers living near the country’s forested regions.

The proposal would allow authorities to manage quotas, allowing hunters to kill up to 140 bears and 97 wolves by the end of the year. This is not the first time that Romania has tried to enact hunting quotas. In 2016, Romania announced it would allow hunters to kill hundreds of lynx, wolves and bears before widespread public outcry forced them to retract their position. Once more, we need to stand up for the animals and demand that they be protected from trophy hunters.

As long as bears and wolves continue to lose habitat due to deforestation, these predators will continue to have close and potentially dangerous encounters with humans. Sign this petition to demand that the Romanian government focus on conserving virgin forest lands and abandon this cruel and inhumane proposal.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Minister Gavrilescu,

Recently, the Romanian government announced a plan to kill numerous bears and wolves as a response to recent attacks on humans. If carried out, hunters will now be legally allowed to kill 140 bears and 97 wolves by the end of the year. With over 60 percent of Europe’s brown bear population found within your country, this could be a crippling blow to biodiversity on the European continent.

Furthermore, enacting quotas would run counter to your 2016 ban on trophy hunting, and would encourage hunters to kill these magnificent creatures for their own selfish and greedy desires. There is no reason to permit these killings when nonlethal means of control exist, such as relocation or the protection of remaining wilderness areas.

We, the undersigned, demand that you retract this proposed quota system and commit instead to conserving the forests these creatures call home.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. pretty soon there won’t be any wild life left then maybe man will be satisfied when he’s killed them all man is the worse killer of all he’ll have to answer for it someday to someone higher up than us

  2. ROMANIA IS SHIT TOWARDS THE GREAT ANIMALS NOW. HUMANE TREATMENT NOW.

Okay, first you steal their land, cut down their forests, build your farms and bring in domesticated animals for breeding human food. So you have successfully destroyed the delicate ecosystem and a few unsuspecting domestic animals are killed due to nothing else being left around to eat, plus a couple of humans that are causing this problem… but it is now the bears and wolves fault???
Get your act together and save the planet by helping to restore the natural balance of life.
There are far more alternatives to eating meat.

  4. I totally agree with Rosslyn Osborne. Humans need to clean up their act, and realize that other sentient species (like wolves and bears) have as much right to “make a living” as humans do – and they do it without destroying the natural Environment.

  5. Jacqui Skill says:

Get with it ..stop being barbarians and find your humanity ..try to evolve out of your ignorance and cruelty ..have regard for life!

  6. THIS KIND OF BARBARISM AGAINST LIVING CREATURES IS LESS THAN INHUMANE AND MUST HAVE CONSEQUENCES FOR THE CRIMINAL RABBLE!

KICK ALL OF THE PERSONS RESPONSIBLE OUT OF THEIR PROFESSION AND LET THEM PAY REPARATION TO FUTURE GENERATIONS!
THE DEVIL SHOULD TAKE  ALL   RESPONSIBLE   PERSONS  AWAY   –  ONCE  FOR ALL !

  7. Leave these animals alone . Animal abusers the ones need killing.
