Stop Shipping Monkeys Overseas for Cruel Experimentation

Black faced vervet monkey

Target: CEO of China Southern Airlines, Tan Wangeng

Goal: End the transportation of primates destined for cruel scientific experiments

Every year, China Southern Airlines ships thousands of primates that are destined for imprisonment and torture in laboratories across the United Kingdom and United States. These highly social, intelligent creatures are crammed into small crates and loaded into the dark cargo holds of aircrafts where they spend several terrifying hours in flight. When the plane lands, the monkeys are taken to laboratories where they are force-fed chemicals, poisoned and mutilated.

While passionate campaigns by various animal rights organizations have caused many airline companies to ban the transportation of primates destined for experimentation, including Air China, American Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and Delta Airlines, China Southern Airlines is one of the few companies that continues to facilitate—and profit from—animal cruelty by transporting monkeys destined for laboratories. International primate trafficking has slowed substantially in recent years, saving hundreds of monkeys from severe mental and physical torture, but more companies must take a stand and establish compassionate corporate policies if we are to finally end these cruel experiments.

By signing this petition, you will be urging China Southern Airlines to promote policies that would permanently ban the transportation of primates destined for scientific experimentation and help to put an end to inhumane animal testing worldwide.

Dear Mr. Tan Wangeng,

I was disappointed to learn that China Southern Airlines currently permits the transportation of primates destined for inhumane experimentation in laboratories across the United Kingdom and the United States. I strongly urge your company to promote formal policies that would prohibit the transportation of monkeys and other animals destined for cruel scientific research.

Not only do monkeys endure severe mental and physical trauma during aircraft transportation, but upon arrival at laboratories, these intelligent, social creatures are subjected to severe abuse. The animals are often deprived of food and water, infected with painful and deadly diseases, poisoned and mutilated.

By allowing the transportation of monkeys to scientific facilities, you are facilitating cruelty to animals. Several other major airlines have already taken a stand against this heartless abuse by banning the transportation of animals destined for experimentation, including Aer Lingus, Air China, American Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and Delta Airlines. Please do all that you can to help put an end to this abuse by banning the transportation of animals to laboratories.

I BEG you to PLEASE END this

  2. China and the US are so blase about animal rights. Israel and some of the EU are progressing while we are degressing. What are these monsters thinking. I have to use up so much time to speak for the animals, I don’t mind but if these idiots acted the way they should, all the animal activists would save so much time and money. Any sentient being living on this earth deserves to be free of pain and cruelty, that is a given basic tenet of life, but who would ever know, money and greed are at the bottom of this.

China again..we should not be surprised.

  4. I do not have any words to describe how I feel. This is outreagous!!!!

  5. Helen Gibson says:

The EU have stopped using animals for cruel experiments. Why haven’t we done the same? There is no reason to continue to use animals in these cruel experiments.
