Fire Police Officer Who Strangled Puppy to Death

Jack Russell Terrier Puppy

Target: Police Commissioner of the City of Baltimore Anthony W. Batts

Goal: Terminate the police officer who strangled his girlfriend’s puppy after it had an accident inside their home

A police officer in Baltimore, Maryland has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty and abuse or neglect of an animal after he beat his girlfriend’s seven-month-old Jack Russell terrier with a mop and then strangled it to death. Alex Eugene Taylor, a five-year veteran of the Baltimore Police Department, reportedly came home to find that the puppy, named Rocko, had soiled the carpet—a common occurrence for young, untrained animals. Officer Taylor reportedly became enraged and chased Rocko around the apartment, scaring him so badly that he ran into the laundry room and hid behind the dryer. Taylor allegedly used a mop to coax Rocko out of the laundry room then beat the defenseless creature with the mop before strangling him to death with his bare hands.

After murdering Rocko, Taylor sent his girlfriend a text message explaining that he was sick of cleaning up after the puppy and attached a photo of the poor animal’s lifeless body. According to Taylor’s girlfriend, he then threw Rocko into a nearby dumpster where she later retrieved his body and gave him a proper burial.

While the Baltimore Police Department has suspended Officer Taylor without pay, his cruel behavior warrants permanent expulsion from the department. Taylor has proven that he is not emotionally or mentally qualified to serve and protect his community, and he should be punished to the full extent of the law.

By signing this petition, you will be urging the Baltimore Police Department to show that this abusive, horrific behavior will not be tolerated by firing Officer Taylor and ensuring that he is severely punished for murdering a defenseless animal.

Dear Commissioner Batts,

I was shocked to learn of Police Officer Alex Eugene Taylor’s heartless abuse and murder of his girlfriend’s defenseless seven-month-old puppy. While I commend you for suspending Officer Taylor after he was charged with aggravated animal cruelty and abuse or neglect of an animal, I believe that his horrific actions warrant immediate termination.

By beating and strangling a young animal to death simply because it soiled the carpet, Officer Taylor has proven that he is unfit to protect and serve the people of Baltimore. Please do everything in your power to ensure that Taylor is not allowed to resume his position as a police officer with the Baltimore PD and that he is punished to the full extent of the law for the abuse and murder of an innocent creature.
