Target: Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr
Goal: Commend grand support of baby elephants in need of care
Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr has donated a large amount of money to baby elephants in need. The philanthropist hand delivered 100,000 USD to the founder, Soraida Salwala, of Friends of the Asian Elephant (FAE), a rehabilitation hospital for injured, abused and abandoned elephants. Miranda’s donation will go to help young elephants that have been abandoned, though still need infant care such as milk. This is an extremely kind gesture to wildlife in need; Miranda deserves praise for her efforts.
FAE is located on the grounds of the MaeYao National Reserve in Lampang, Thailand. The organization is the founder of the first elephant hospital in the world; the caretakers that work there have helped over 3,900 sick or injured elephants. The more common ailments of the elephants seen at the hospital are land-mine injuries, abandonment or abuse. One baby elephant that resides at the hospital, Naka, was almost killed by his mother at birth. Naka now has a supportive group of people who ensure he is nourished with goats’ milk, and well taken care of.
Miranda’s donation will be used to supply milk to all of the young elephants at the hospital. The milk fund will be called ”Miranda Kerr’s Baby Elephant Milk Fund,” in honor of Miranda’s gracious donation. Applaud Miranda for her animal centered philanthropy by signing this petition.
Dear Miranda Kerr,
You recently donated 100,000 USD to Friends of the Asian Elephant in Thailand; I would like to thank you for your philanthropy. Because of your donation many motherless baby elephants, like Naka, will receive necessary milk during nursing years. It is my sincere hope that the world’s first elephant hospital, FAE, will continue to be successful in treating and rehabilitating elephants in need.
I would also like to thank you for your conscious skin- care product line, KORA Organics; your ethical choice of only manufacturing and selling vegan products is progressive and passionate. Thank you for taking a stand for the elephants, as well as for animal victims of the cosmetic industry. Please continue to do all that you can to help animals in need; your current and past efforts are much appreciated.
