End Tortuous Slaughter of Dogs and Cats for Profit

vietnam fur dogs cats

Target: President Truong Tang Sang

Goal: Stop the slaughter and torture of animals for profit

Pets are being stolen and smuggled into Vietnam, where criminals are profiting from animal fur and meat. Dogs and cats are crammed into tiny cages on top of each other and transported, often illegally, to slaughter. These animals may be killed and served in fancy Vietnamese restaurants, or their fur is sold as clothing in other countries like America. It has even been reported that the furs are underhandedly named after other animals to ensure Americans will purchase them. The Vietnamese government must step in and implement a plan to stop this.

For these animals, there is no such thing as sedation or humane euthanizing practices. They are killed using whatever method the slaughterers choose, such as gruesome stabbing, burning or both. From the workers who perform the slaughter, the government that allows it, and the public who purchases the meat and fur, compassion crosses no mind.

It is the responsibility of the Vietnamese government to start intercepting trucks driven by smugglers. These vehicles are extremely easy to spot and the animals are clearly visible. Demand that humane euthanization methods be developed and enforced in this country as soon as possible.

Dear President Truong Tang Sang,

The treatment of cats and dogs in Vietnam, particularly those caught in the fur and meat trade, is shameful. With the painless methods that are available for euthanizing animals today, there is no excuse for citizens to be doing such horrendous things to other living creatures. Laws need to be enacted and enforced so that this situation improves immediately.

Many of those involved in these practices are criminals, profiting off of stolen animals. While animals rights groups sometimes intercept smuggling trucks, this should be the responsibility of the government and law enforcement. Many of the people who have been stopped do not have proper licenses, and there are likely many others that slip by, unnoticed.

Allowing criminals to operate freely promotes an atmosphere of acceptance, and this is not something that any country should let slide. Adopting a no-tolerance policy for animal exploitation not only helps the animals, but also heightens the morale and standards of your citizens.

Such ongoing criminal activity lessens the value of the community and forces animals to suffer needlessly and endlessly. We ask that you stand up as a leader and create distinct and enforceable policies to stop the inhumane, and often illegal slaughter of dogs and cats in Vietnam.

Either Asians are learning-disabled and can’t figure out how horrible these acts of cruelty are – and Asians are far from stupid, OR they just don’t give a damn about who they hurt and how they do it. I vote number two.

The rest of the compassionate world has got to figure out how to stop this abuse once and for all.
